Reporting to the Senior Manager, Expense Management, the Manager, Expense Management contributes to a dynamic team that supports the Senior Leadership of the department contributing to the overall expense management of Legal & Corporate Affairs globally. They ensure the specific team goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the unit’s business strategies and objectives. The position ensures that all the team’s activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. **Accountabilities**: - Responsible for supporting sustainment and development of the Expense Management team including the development program, individual skills development, succession planning, and the distribution of service allocation across the department. - Provide operational support to the Senior Leadership Team including the coordination of expense management, budget planning, reporting, and TPV support for L&CA globally. - Support to onboarding and offboarding activities of employees as well as facilities and telephony related support within Legal & Corporate Affairs. - Strategic support to the department including database maintenance including HR tracking sheets. - Planning support and execution of department events including town halls, strategy sessions, conferences, and celebrations. - Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions of the team. - Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. **Education and Experience**: - Excellent interpersonal and written skills to communicate with management, business lines as well as working in a team environment. - Familiarity with Scotiabank’s organizational structure and adaptability to the operational environment. - High level of discretion required when dealing with confidential matters. - Advanced knowledge of MS Office and software tools as applied to the position. Including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. - Knowledge of MS Office and software tools as applied to the position. - Spanish language is considered and asset. - This position deals with numerous sensitive issues, requiring strict confidentiality and accuracy. - The incumbent is expected to troubleshoot and make independent decisions within defined parameters on day to day assignments and seek guidance/clarity on policy and objectives.
