**Role Overview**

The Terminal Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operations of the Container Yard. This includes coordinating the movement and storage of containers, managing a team of yard employees, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational procedures. This role is accountable for building and sustaining positive employee engagement and customer satisfaction. The Terminal supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a smooth and organized workflow in the yard.

**Key Accountabilities**

**Yard Operations and Maintenance**
- Overseeing the functioning of the gate team (remote gate clerks, crane operators, shunter, etc.).
- Maintain the facilities, ensuring that the property is always safe, secure, and clean.
- Ensure a weekly schedule is prepared for the team.
- Work closely with the Terminal Manager on crane maintenance matters.
- Attend calls with customers and steam ship lines to provide weekly updates related to yard operations.
- Oversee the monthly yard maintenance and provide update to the Terminal Manager regarding the repairs and maintenance required in the yard.
- Answer customer calls regarding inventory status and assist in resolving customer queries.
- Notify relevant parties of equipment damage and schedule repairs as needed.
- Responsible for checking the inventory in the yard on a bi-weekly basis.
- Collaborate with Dispatch, Customer Service and Commercial teams to optimize container movement and satisfy customer commitments.
- Provide weekly dashboard of Yard report to Operations management team.
- Report yard driver turnaround time on a weekly basis.

**Leadership and Relationship Management**
- Responsible for the training, supervision, and engagement of direct reports, including on site and remote workers based in Canada and India.
- Ensure that all company safety policies and procedures are appropriately followed by employees.
- Conduct weekly one on one meetings with direct reports to enhance individual and team performance.
- Maintain direct and indirect communication with customers and third-party vendors as needed or assigned.
- Monitors and measures third-party vendor performance.

**About You**
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, build consensus and drive change in a highly decentralized company.
- Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing situations, leading with a solutions-oriented attitude and approach to problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to build effective cross-functional working relationships.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Have a collaborative approach, be results driven, and thrive working in a strong culture of teamwork.

**Qualifications**
- Degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary educational institution, in the field of Logistics preferred.
- 2-3 years' experience in the logistics field is required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role, with remote leadership experience considered an asset.
