**Full Job Description**

Osaka Food Market is Durham Region’s first authentic Japanese food market. Offering a wide selection of Japanese groceries, sweets, cooked food to go and baked goods, Osaka Food Market aims to provide its customers with an authentically Japanese shopping experience. Our employees will be trained in the essentials of cooking, baking and Japanese-style customer service. We are not just another Japanese restaurant, but rather a full-service Japanese food market.

Responsibilities for our roles may include:
Cook Japanese style food and treats for takeout only (don’t worry, it is nothing complicated and you will receive training)

Cash out our guests using our POS machine and take orders for specific items that are not designed for self-service in nature

Effectively works as a team with other team members to fulfill all guests’ orders accurately and within the required standard service time (all staff will be responsible for similar tasks and teamwork is required)

Dispenses and serves drinks (i.e., matcha green tea/Japanese milk tea, Japanese iced coffee)

Maintain orderly and clean counter area and workspace.

Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas (maintaining food safety standards through regular temperature checks and appropriate sanitization will be extremely important in this position)

Responsible for restocking all products, packaging and food or drink items prior to depletion.

Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.

May operate cooking equipment such as deep fryers, ranges, donut making fryers

**Job Types**: Looking for part-time employees only at this time

Part-time hours: 10-20 hours per week. Must be able to work both evenings and weekends.

**Salary**: TBD - depends on experience

**Requirements**:
Knowledge and or experience working with Japanese/Asian food and groceries

A great, can-do attitude with a service-focused mindset is the most important requirement for this position as is the ability to use judgement and critical thinking

A high school diploma is required

Experience preparing Japanese-style dishes would be a great asset (even if it is just cooking or baking at home)

2+ years experience in customer service/retail is greatly preferred

Experience working in a Japanese-style business or knowledge of Japanese/Asian culture is greatly preferred

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 10-20 per week

**Salary**: $15.50-$17.00 per hour
