The Water and Wastewater Division is dedicated to providing the community with a safe and reliable drinking water supply, efficiently collecting and properly treating wastewater, and ensuring both environmental sustainability and long-term financial responsibility. The role_**_:_**
In this dynamic position, you will provide crucial technical and analytical support to our leadership team, including the Team Lead, Supervisors, and Forepersons, as well as the Engineering Division and external contractors. You will be instrumental in analyzing and enhancing our damage prevention program, recommending innovative improvements and replacements, and driving continual progress. Additionally, you will lead special technical investigations and studies related to operations and maintenance, ensuring swift action and effective solutions when infrastructure is impacted. This role also involves coordinating contracts and agreements with contractors and Ontario One Call (ON1Call), making you a key player in maintaining and improving our critical water and wastewater infrastructure. What you will do in this role_**_:_**_ _
- Conduct research review and evaluation of locate services, technologies and equipment for water and wastewater operations and provide technical, financial and communication support to the team lead, as well as work with Legal, Engineering and Contractors for developing, administration and enforcement of locate service agreements ensuring regulatory requirements are met or exceeded.
- Conduct site investigations and analyze specific problems or proposals relating to water and wastewater operations for underground utility locating. Prepare detailed reports and drawings and make recommendations.
- Monitor operations and maintenance programs to meet or exceed compliance with The Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act legislation and provide support during Ministry inspections as needed.
- Implement programs to ensure compliance with the Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act. Provide assistance with training of staff related to new legislation and requirements for the location of underground infrastructure on engineering and state of good repair projects. Negotiate agreements for dedicated locators on engineering and state of good repair projects for all large scale projects.
- Review Locate Service Provider compliance with legislative and contractual obligations.
- Develop and administer the locate service provider agreements on an as needed basis.
- Develop and coordinate training for staff on locate agreements.
- Source and find new equipment under supervisor's direction, quotes, cost, and delivery times.
- Liaise with stores/vendors regarding parts/materials/tools and ensure quantities received and utilized are accurately displayed on internal regional system.
- Collate, provide documentation, and draft reports for claims as requested by risk management and for MFIPPA requests (Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) related to hit infrastructure.
- Act as primary point of contact for locate service providers to resolve issues with locating Peel assets.
- Provide updates, corrections and changes of infrastructure assets to Public Works Operations Support group and Capital Planning and Construction groups.
- Research and provide recommendations on new technologies and equipment pertaining to water and wastewater systems.
- Review plans and provide comments from an operations perspective on capital projects, new connections and development in conjunction with engineering and construction, and other utilities to increase awareness of locates and develop dedicated locator models for projects.
- May be required to take part in stand-by rotation and is responsible for scheduled and emergency after-hours work for, locates support and hit infrastructure investigations.
- Other duties as assigned.
**_ What the role requires_**_:_**
- A post-secondary education in a science or business program with a minimum of three (3) years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
