**Summary**:
The Asphalt Plant Maintenance Person works closely with the Asphalt Plant Foreperson and Leadhand to plan, schedule, and perform regular maintenance of asphalt and soil cement plants to prevent downtime and delays in asphalt production.

**Duties/Tasks**:

- Understand, promote, participate in, and continuously improve all aspects of the company safety programs & initiatives (including _Goal Zero_).
- Comply with all company safety policies and standards.
- Comply with all legislated environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with the Asphalt Plant Foreperson and Leadhand to plan, schedule and carry out maintenance across two asphalt plants and one soil cement plant within the Greater Edmonton Area.
- Organize and carry out regular general maintenance on bearings, conveyor components, screeners, drums, silos, drags, and feeder bins.
- Weld and cut to create repair existing parts or fabricate new.
- Safely operate 980 loaders, skid steers and aerial platforms as needed to perform maintenance.
- Perform breakdown repairs within tight deadlines to ensure consistent asphalt production.
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of yard and plant site(s).
- Ensure tools used for daily tasks remain clean and organized within their designated locations.
- Perform various manual laboring tasks including shoveling, sweeping, steam cleaning, painting, mechanical assistance, lifting, pushing, and pulling of various objects.
- Perform setup and takedown of plants at different job sites as required.
- Detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and report accordingly.
- Additional duties/tasks as required.

**Knowledge/Skills**:

- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Able to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Able to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to weld and use a cutting torch is an asset.
- Knowledge of materials and methods involved in an asphalt production is an asset.
- Able to work at heights is required.

**Work Conditions**:

- Must be able to work irregular hours, including overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
- Must have own reliable transportation for frequent, short-notice travel between local job sites as required (within the greater Edmonton area).
- Infrequent, out-of-town travel may be required for mobile plant operations (with appropriate notice).
- A portion of work is performed outdoors, which could include inclement weather; fluctuations in temperatures and humidity; and varying exposures to noise, dust, grease, fumes, and toxic or flammable substances. Work specific PPE provided by the Company.
- Work in confined spaces may be required (with appropriate training as supplied by employer).
- Work at heights of up to 80 ft. is required (with appropriate fall protection and training as supplied by employer).
- Must be physically fit, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must wear appropriate PPE as directed by company policy and OH&S regulations.
- Must be able to meet all pre-employment safety requirements, including Occupational Health Assessment and Drug & Alcohol testing.
- Must be able to meet the requirements for Mask/Respirator Fit Testing.
- Must maintain active membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 955.
