Qualifications:
**Essential**:
- Post-secondary education and experience in a related field (Nursing, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Athletic Therapy) or specializing in disability management (Certified Return to Work Coordinator or Disability Management Professional designation). An equivalent combination of related education, training and work-related experience may be considered
- Experience providing consultative and case management services to management, employees and human resources on disability management and accommodation-related matters
- Experience interpreting and evaluating medical information to identify functional limitations or restrictions in order to develop return to work or workplace accommodation plans
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with various parties and work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex and sensitive information to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to evaluate complex information and make appropriate recommendations and decisions.
- Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities and meet strict deadlines
**Desried**:
- Experience providing disability management consultative and case management services in a unionized environment
- Experience developing and delivering training workshops
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in French
**Duties**:
Reporting to the Manager, Supportive Employment, the Supportive Employment Consultant (SEC) is part of a professional human resource team that provides advice, guidance and coaching to all levels of staff and management within the Manitoba government in the areas of supportive employment which includes disability management and accommodations. Major accountability areas include: disability case management involving working with Human Resources, employees and management to coordinate accommodations and return to work initiatives and creating, implementing and following up on work plans for longer, more complex cases.
