**Description**
The Principal Product Manager, SAP will be responsible for both product lifecycle management and product portfolio management of Syntax’s SAP products and services. You will collaborate with global teams across the organization to develop strategies and execution plans for the products under your management.
Using your deep and broad market knowledge, you will develop product portfolio strategies informed by Syntax corporate strategy and competitive differentiators to enhance the Syntax SAP product portfolio, leading to greater overall market share and expanded share of wallet within individual customers. You will also be responsible for ensuring product and service owners within your product portfolio adhere to common strategies, messaging, and collateral, building consensus using Syntax core principles. You will develop product roadmaps that consider technology, operations, and packaging innovation to ensure Syntax stays ahead of the markets we serve.
This role requires the ability to lead by example, communicate effectively, and collaborate extensively and often. Thought leadership, creativity, and the ability to both prioritize and multitask are essential.
**Responsibilities**
- Develop a deep understanding of the markets, vendors, and customers served by the product family, and how Syntax differentiators help customers solve business problems.
- Work with Syntax executive management and GPM peers to align product family and product strategies with overall Syntax product portfolio strategy and Syntax value propositions.
- Collaborate with sales, solution architect, engineering, and operations teams to create product roadmaps and innovation plans that align to product family and product strategies.
- Align product family and product strategies and roadmaps with industry analyst research and software vendor strategy and plans by developing close relationships with the partners with whom we work.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales leadership to create go-to-market strategies, including collateral-driven marketing campaigns, that map to the strategies and go-to-market activities of our software partners.
- Work closely with operations teams and product owners to ensure products are implemented as designed and that we are meeting contractual obligations, and manage the continuous improvement process to constantly evolve our services.
- Work closely with administrative functions to ensure that operational systems, legal documents, and financial information can support the portfolio effectively.
- Coordinate the governance process of the product portfolio you manage, leading regular meetings to ensure global alignment, communicate status, and resolve issues in a timely fashion.
- Manage the new product introduction process for your product portfolio, working with Syntax leadership to determine product investment.
- Manage the new product lifecycle process for your product portfolio, adapting features to keep pace with the competitive market and align with customer demands.
- Contribute to Syntax pricing and packaging strategies that will improve company market share, demonstrate Syntax value, and allow flexibility in sales cycles, participating in win/loss analysis and churn analysis activities and field-testing new approaches with customers and prospects.
- Collaborate with product marketing, field sales, inside sales, channel sales, and solution architect teams to ensure consistent messaging to the market, including the development of messaging, web site content, battle cards, data sheets, sales training, and partner training.
- Provide thought leadership in the product portfolio or products that you manage, participating in analyst briefings, writing blog posts, presenting at industry conferences, and maintaining one or more industry and/or vendor certifications to demonstrate expertise.
- Help guide the product lifecycle management function by contributing to collateral, suggesting process improvements, and ensuring the requirements for your product portfolio are fully satisfied.
**Qualifications**
- BS/BA degree required; MS/MBA preferred
- 15+ years of proven product and program management experience building successful solutions with cross-functional teams
- Strong communication, organization, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to think creatively, build consensus among peers, and develop junior product managers
- Comfortable handling challenging meetings with development and business executives
- Experience in working in a matrixed management environment
- Strong understanding and implementation experience of Agile methodologies, tooling, and metrics
- Passion for being hands-on, meaning you want to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
