**OVERVIEW**:
As a Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our organization's financial sustainability and efficient management. Your expertise will be essential in overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning to support the growth and impact of our adult literacy initiatives.
**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Financial Planning and Budgeting**:
- Develop, monitor, and revise the organization's annual budget in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Analyze historical financial data and trends to provide budget allocation and resource optimization insights.
- Work closely with program managers to align programmatic goals with budgetary constraints.
**Financial Reporting and Analysis**:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analyses.
- Provide regular financial performance updates to the executive team and the Board of Directors, highlighting key insights and areas of concern.
- Conduct financial analyses to support decision-making and identify cost savings or revenue enhancement opportunities.
**Grants and Fund Management**:
- Manage the financial aspects of grant proposals, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and accurate reporting.
- Monitor grant expenditures, allocations, and reporting deadlines to maintain transparency and accountability.
**Internal Controls and Compliance**:
- Establish and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure internal controls and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Oversee the preparation of financial records for audits and coordinate audit processes.
**Cash Flow Management**:
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure the availability of funds for operational needs and future initiatives.
- Develop strategies to manage working capital effectively and mitigate financial risks.
**Financial Strategy and Growth**:
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop long-term financial strategies aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
- Provide financial insights for strategic planning, expansion initiatives, and new program development.
**Team Collaboration**:
- Lead a small finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster collaboration with other departments to ensure financial considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a plus.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in financial management, preferably in the nonprofit sector or within programs focused on education, literacy, or social services.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and grant management.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools like Sage, Excel, and financial reporting systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Effective communication skills to clearly present financial information to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
