**Navigators Background and Calling**
The Navigators of Canada is a religious order and registered charitable organization.
Its Mission is: _“To advance the Gospel of Jesus and his Kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of labourers (kingdom workers) living and discipling among all people (the lost).”_
The Navigators of Canada minister to university students on campuses across the country and are actively involved in sending workers to nations around the world to serve Jesus and fulfill our Mission.
**Overview**
The Wave Campus Intern role is a 1-to-2-year position working with students on university campuses. At its core, this role helps students develop and grow in Christian faith through personal discipleship, both individually (mentoring, bible study, prayer, teaching, serving) and in groups (weekly meetings, conferences and retreats). In doing so the Wave intern will prepare students to similarly help others.
**Primary Responsibilities**
1. **Care**:Build relationships with students, caring for them as a whole person and cultivating a healthy faith community
2. **Invite**: Introduce students to Jesus to understand and consider His invitation for relationship
3. **Equip**:Mentor and develop students as Kingdom workers who:
○ follow Jesus and abide in Him
○ know and live from the Scriptures
○ are on mission in community
○ are faithfully present with those yet to find themselves in Christ
○ disciple others with spiritual generations in mind
4. **Learn**:Fully engage in all ministry and training with a teachable spirit
**Activities and Duties in Support of Primary Responsibilities**
**STUDENT MINISTRY 50%**
1. **Develop relationships of trust and build community among students at the University of Calgary**
Activities will include but are not limited to: visiting and sharing life experiences with students on campus and in their homes, group sports, adventure outings and meal hosting, all the while showing a true interest in their lives and caring for them.
2. **Minister directly to those who show a spiritual interest**
Activities will include but are not limited to: studying the Bible with students (those who know Christ and those yet to find themselves in Christ), leading small group discussions on spiritual topics, exploring personal questions, praying together, reading and discussing books, all the while mentoring with generations in mind.
3. **Serve and equip emerging student leaders**
Activities will include but are not limited to: training, mentoring, coaching, shepherding, via one-to-one interaction and small group discussions; and working alongside emerging leaders in ministry activities such as co-leading Bible studies, and planning events together.
**TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT 30%**
Actively participate in scriptural and ministry development with a primary focus on discipleship and in-depth bible study. Engage with national and local training priorities and initiatives. Activities will include but are not limited to: Bible studies, Navigator ministry leadership training, books, mentoring with a campus director, and development of practical ministry skills alongside a mentor or trainer; participating in Participant and Staff Safety Training.
**MINISTRY PARTNER DEVELOPMENT (MPD) 10%**
**EVENTS 5%**
Activities will include but are not limited to: national intern retreats, recruiting to and serving at national student event Basecamp, attending and contributing to conferences and events.
**ADMINISTRATION 5%**
**Minimum Requirements**
- Actively pursuing a relationship with Jesus Christ
- A working knowledge of Scripture and an active prayer life
- Passion for Jesus and university students
- Ability to engage students in authentic, relational ways
- Collaborative spirit and team player
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Able to self-manage schedule and work responsibilities
- Acceptance of, and written agreement, is required for the Navigators of Canada Statement of Faith, LifeStyle Conduct and Confidentiality Agreements.
- A positive Canadian (or foreign equivalent) Criminal Record Check or Vulnerable Sector Check, as required.
**Preferred Requirements**
- Previous involvement in parachurch or church ministry setting
**Position Reporting**
The Campus Intern will report to the U of C Campus Director
**Hours**
This is a year-round salaried position. The months of September and May are significant times for this role. A typical work week runs Monday - Friday. Wave Interns may serve at a minimum of 25 hrs. per week up to full-time.
