**Position Title**
- Manager, Philanthropy and Alumni Relations**Position Summary**
- Do you have a passion for fundraising and alumni relations? We welcome you to join the External Relations team as the Manager, Philanthropy and Alumni Relations.
- Reporting to the Vice-President, External Relations, this role manages and implements the fundraising and alumni relations strategic plans ensuring that institutional targets related to revenue generation and engagement of the approximately 80,000 graduates are met. The incumbent achieves institutional outcomes through the effective leadership of a team of professionals that is accountable for managing a pipeline of prospective donors through effective research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.**Position Responsibilities**

**Planning, Coordination and Monitoring**
- Contributes to the development of the External Relations strategic plan
- Develops and implements operational plans and budgets for the Philanthropy and Alumni Relations teams that supports the achievement of fund development, alumni engagement, fundraising strategies, and donor stewardship
- Establishes and monitors KPI’s for the Philanthropy and Alumni Relations team
- Ensures coordination and collaboration with the External Relations team related to the effective documentation of research material, engagement plans, stewardship plans, and meeting reports
- Connects with internal stakeholder across the Polytechnic to ensure a unified and coordinated engagement of alumni, donors, and community members

**People Leadership**
- Develops the talents of staff, advocating and modeling the importance of professional development, and building capacity and capability, while identifying future competencies and expertise required for the resource planning and client services team
- Responsible for effective recruitment and selection, retention, coaching, supervision, and performance management in compliance with People & Culture policies and procedures, FOIPP, and Collective Agreements in support of a high performing team
- Facilitates, where necessary, discipline and/or dismissal of reporting staff, in consultation with People & Culture
- Establishes standards, identifies developmental needs of the Philanthropy team, and guides staff development processes to ensure staff remain up to date on current trends and best practices
- Develops, reviews, and is accountable for the fluid support structure and processes to ensure the effective and efficient distribution and delegation of work

**Revenue Generation**
- Cultivates and manages a portfolio of major donors and prospects to generate and maintain significant gifts for the institution
- Prepares and presents highly customized, compelling funding proposals to major gift prospects
- Manages cultivation and stewardship activities of existing major donors to increase their affinity and grow their support for RDP

**Alumni Relations**
- Fosters engagement and strong relationships with Red Deer Polytechnic’s 80,000+ alumni and helps create and leads the overall engagement strategy to advance these relationships
- Ensures alumni understand fully Red Deer Polytechnics value proposition and institutional priorities
- Grows and manages regional chapters and volunteer base

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e., Business)
- 5 to 7 years of progressive fundraising experience
- 3 to 5 years experience in supervisory roles with effective leadership and team-building skills
- A combination of education and experience will be considered

**Preferred Qualifications**
- CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) Designation is an asset
- High energy, self-starter with the ability to deal with multiple priorities
- Knowledge of the operation of a post-secondary institution would be a definite asset
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to prepare effective proposals and presentations
- Effective organizational, time management and planning skills
- The ability to champion and lead change; a proactive, collaborative, results-oriented style
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain trust with senior leaders, peers, employees and strategic partners
- Skilled at encouraging individuals and teams to perform at a higher level and to embrace change; inspires others; understands what motivates different people
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrated focus on proactive client service
