**Position Overview**

The Summer Program Leader is responsible for delivering engaging, safe, and high-quality programming for children aged 4 -12 (pre-primary to grade 6) during the summer months (June to August). This role involves planning and implementing activities that support the Club’s mission and values while fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Summer Program Leaders work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure programs run smoothly and effectively.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Leadership**
- Demonstrate commitment to the Club’s mission, values, and goals.
- Serve as a positive role model for members, fostering respect, inclusion, and teamwork.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with members, colleagues, and parents.
- Ensure member safety and uphold program quality always.
- Attend required training sessions, meetings, and complete assigned BGCU training modules.

**Program Delivery**
- Implement engaging, age-appropriate programs and activities that align with Club objectives.
- Ensure activities are inclusive, promote social interaction, and encourage learning and growth.
- Adapt the delivery of the program to meet the diverse needs and abilities of children.
- Monitor and address behavioral issues using positive guidance and support techniques.

**Daily Operations**
- Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled shifts, notifying supervisors of delays or absences as required.
- Follow the Club’s Dress Code Policy, including wearing an ID badge during shifts.
- Prepare materials and supplies for activities before members arrive.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization by adhering to posted cleaning schedules and performing assigned tasks (e.g., sweeping, tidying, mopping).
- Report concerns about members, parents, programs, or policies to the supervisor promptly.
- Assist with additional tasks as needed and adapt to evolving program requirements.

**Outdoor and Sun Safety Requirements**
- Staff must role model appropriate sun safety during summer camp, including wearing a hat and carrying sunscreen when outdoors and encouraging members to do the same.

**Work Environment**
- Summer Program Leaders work Monday to Friday, with the possibility of extended hours as needed.
- Work involves direct interaction with children, requiring physical activity and engagement in various program activities.
- Summer Program Leaders may be required to perform additional duties as assigned by the Club Manager.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $17.25 per hour

- Halifax, NS B3R 1M6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
