The Employee Safety and Injury Prevention unit leads the development and oversight of workplace safety strategies across government departments, promoting a proactive safety culture and legislative compliance.
The Psychological Safety & Wellness Specialist leads the development and delivery of corporate wellness programs that support the Manitoba Public Service’s commitment to employee well-being. This role focuses on promoting psychological health, resilience, and inclusive workplace practices by aligning initiatives with the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. The Specialist collaborates with internal stakeholders to embed trauma-informed and wellness-focused approaches into organizational culture, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and legislative requirements.

Qualifications:
**Essential**:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health Sciences or Health Promotion, Psychology, Social Work); A Master’s degree or certification in occupational health and safety or a related field involving workplace wellness, mental health, trauma-informed care or organizational psychology.
- Significant experience in wellness, mental health promotion, trauma-informed practice, or organizational development; public sector or unionized environment experience preferred.
- Deep understanding of psychological health and safety, especially trauma-informed approaches to workplace wellness.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including experience engaging senior leaders and preparing materials for executive audiences.
- Skilled in facilitating trauma-sensitive dialogue and building relationships across diverse groups with political acumen.
- Ability to analyze wellness-related data and develop actionable, trauma-informed strategies.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with sensitivity to trauma-related team dynamics.
- Familiarity with workplace legislation (e.g., Workplace Safety and Health Act, Human Rights Code) and its relevance to trauma-informed practices.
- Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based wellness programs and communication strategies.
**Duties**:
Reporting to the Manager of Employee Safety and Injury Prevention, this position leads the development and implementation of a trauma-informed wellness strategy across the public service, fostering psychological safety and resilience in the workplace. Collaborates with leaders, HR partners, and Occupational Health & Safety to design inclusive, culturally responsive wellness programs and resources. Delivers education, training, and campaigns grounded in trauma-informed principles, while engaging external experts to build awareness and capacity. Conducts needs assessments, analyzes data, and establishes KPIs to evaluate program effectiveness. Provides expert consultation and facilitates workshops on mental health, stress management, and trauma-sensitive practices. Supports integration of the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety and ensures wellness initiatives are embedded in organizational policies and accessible to all employees.
