Construction Instructor

Goodwill Niagara requires a Construction Instructor who is responsible for the content, delivery, skills development and safe operation of a Construction program for youth facing barriers to employment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Developing, modeling and instructing strong employability skills such as communication, negotiation, reliability, work-place culture, problem solving and workplace safety; Developing, modeling and instructing construction skills curriculum; Ensuring relevancy of curriculum and monitoring and recording progress of participants; Provide one-to-one support as well as group training as required; Determine the equipment and material requirements for specific projects; Conduct equipment and material maintenance and inventory control; Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of the participants within the workshop and through work experience.
- Experience in teaching construction or prior construction experience
- Experience working with contractors/employers to solve problems and negotiate solutions
- Experience in building and equipment maintenance and repairs
- Good working knowledge of tools (power & hand) and their safe operation
- Good working knowledge of various trades and contractors in the Niagara Region
- Hold a valid driver’s license and insurance, have access to a reliable vehicle, as frequent travel is required
Prior experience working with youth or individuals with employment barriers and wage assistance programs is a definite asset.
