Accounting Manager

**Overview**
The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations for our portfolio of managed properties. The Accounting Manager will be integral to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial statements and records for our clients. The Accounting Manager will lead the accounting department and implement process improvements, train and develop staff as well as work with the Controller to provide insights on the financial health of the organization.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Independently lead all facets of property accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, while providing oversight to accounting staff in both accounts payable and property accounting functions.
- Provide comprehensive training and mentorship to team members, fostering skills development and career growth.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement; collaborate with senior management to implement new procedures and enhance efficiency within the accounting department.

**ACCOUNTING**:

- Ensure timely completion of monthly accounting processes and financial reporting packages in accordance with internal deadlines and standards.
- Review annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and property tax recovery reconciliations for accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and implement training materials and standardized processes to improve operational efficiency within the accounting team.
- Respond to financial and accounting inquiries from Property Management teams, providing detailed financial analysis and ad hoc reporting as required.
- Review and approve bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee preparation and filing of GST remittances in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide assistance in reviewing commercial tenancy agreements to ensure accurate billing and adherence to financial terms.
- Guide and collaborate with property managers and accountants throughout the budgeting process to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Coordinate and provide support for the annual Trust audit, ensuring all documentation and reporting requirements are met.
- Assist with special projects including system reviews and implementations, onboarding of new properties, property sales, management transitions, and other initiatives as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- **Education**: CPA designation or equivalent
- **Experience**:Minimum 1 year of experience in management role in Property Management
- Proven leadership, managerial, and customer service abilities, with strong communication skills to effectively coach and motivate team members while conveying ideas across all organizational levels.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with technology and accounting systems in a real estate environment (Yardi preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities within structured deadlines.
- Highly detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation and deliverables.
- Self-motivated with the ability to independently research, learn, and implement new technologies.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to recommend and implement process enhancements for greater efficiency.

Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
