**JOB SUMMARY**
Responsible for the strict adherence to company standards, Canada GAP and regulatory requirements, the Quality Assurance Supervisor will ensure the safety and quality of products we process and produce through the execution of daily quality assurance activities such as; inspections, internal audits, reporting non-conformances and implementing low risk immediate corrective actions.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Quality Assurance**
- Perform quality assurance checks throughout the production, packaging, sanitation and warehouse functions of the Company.
- Contribute to a healthy work environment, while maintaining high food safety standards.
- Maintain daily label and lot coding records in conjunction with plant team.
- Document all QA activities accurately and timely.
- Ongoing assessment of inspection results and escalation of potentially problematic inspection findings to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager in a timely manner.
- Verification of testing equipment such as thermometers and scales.
- Conduct product quality inspection throughout production lines to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Oversee high risk production activities to ensure high food safety standards.
- Support Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager with any minor changes to existing CanadaGAP, GMP, and HACCP documentation.
- Quality assessment and documentation of incoming goods.
**Audits and Reporting**
- Conduct and report on Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) audits twice daily for each production line.
- Additional reports as requested by management.
**Training and Development**
- Provide on-site training to the employees on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), GMP, and Food Safety Procedures.
- Other duties assigned as required.
**Supervision**
- Responsible for the supervision of the Quality Assurance Team.
- Responsible for approving weekly timecards and time off requests.
- Responsible for completing midyear and final performance appraisals.
- Responsible for conducting coaching sessions and, if required, following the progressive discipline process.
- May be required to provide support to the area manager and, where applicable, act in a managerial role in the absence of the area manager.
- Other supervisory duties as required.
**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education/Certifications**:
- 5+ years of experience in the food industry
- 1+ year of supervisory experience
- In-depth knowledge of food safety programs, GMP programs, Quality Systems and audit preparation.
**Skills**:
- Leadership Skills: Ability to use appropriate methods and interpersonal styles to motivate and guide fellow employees to keep up with deliverables & food safety protocols. Perform daily check-ins to attain successful outcomes and business objectives. Work cooperatively with others to help a team or work group achieve its goals.
- Communication Skills: Technicians will interact frequently with fellow employees, department managers and senior management through various forms of communication.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Problem-Solving Skills: Identify and understand problems and opportunities by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative information; choosing the best course of action by establishing clear decision criteria, generating and evaluating alternatives. Make timely decisions and take action that is consistent with available facts and constraints.
- Time Management Skills: Strong time management skills are required to manage deadlines, audit schedules and meetings.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
- Sound discrimination.
- Please note this is a fixed term 20 month contract position.
