**Terms**: Monday-Wednesday 9:30am-2:00pm (in person), Thursday-Friday 10:00am-12:00pm (online)
Minimum commitment of 3 months

**Scope**

To assist students in the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. Assist the class instructor to support low-level students who require additional support in language acquisition.

**Responsibilities**
- Learn and understand the agency's mission and objectives. Carry out volunteer work according to the agency program expectations.
- Provide individual and small group support to LINC students
- Follow LINC curriculum guidelines while working with LINC students
- Help the LINC Instructor obtain suitable instructional materials (online resources, visual and audio aids)
- Be aware of cultural differences and ensure that the rights of all students are respected
- Perform other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- TESL Ontario Certificate considered as a strong asset
- Experience teaching and/or tutoring ESL students, especially in beginner level classes would be an asset
- Knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks and LINC Curriculum Guidelines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues facing newcomers
- Punctual and responsible
- Quick learner and flexible

**Other requirements**
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
