Southern Door has been a respected and trusted member of the Medicine Hat community for over 40 years. We provide, install, and service a comprehensive range of garage doors and related products for residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial customers. We recently were purchased by Canada West Garage Doors and are now part of group of garage door companies that will enable us to offer a wider range of products and services to Medicine Hat, Southern Alberta, and Southern Saskatchewan. CWGD is based in Kelowna, BC and also owns and operates Harbour Door Services in Victoria, BC, and Northerm Overhead Doors in Whitehorse, YT.

We are also now 100% First Nations owned as CWGD is part of Dakwakada Capital Investment’s portfolio of companies. Dakwakada Capital Investments is a Whitehorse-based private investment firm that owns and manages investment and business assets of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations.

**Position Summary**:
The Overhead Door Technician installs, repairs and maintains overhead /rolling doors, operators and gate systems for residential, commercial and industrial customers.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Install, repair and maintain overhead doors, door operators and gate systems per manufacturer specifications and standards.
- Perform installation, repair and maintenance tasks.
- Welding and installation of electrical control wiring.
- Following Health & Safety procedures and protocols at all times.

**Requirements**:

- While experience in residential and/or commercial overhead door installation and maintenance is preferred, we are willing to train the right person. Experience with Parking Gates, Operators, Rolling Doors and Sectional Doors is an asset.
- Ability to operate and work at heights on scissor lifts and ladders, while always following health and safety procedures.
- Familiarity and competence with a variety of hand
- and power-tools.
- Competency in welding and with low voltage electrical wiring. We will provide training in welding and low voltage electricity if required to ensure both competence and safety.
- Ability to lift materials weighing 50 lbs and up.
- Detail orientation, accuracy and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and an individual drive to succeed while always being a strong team player.
- Customer service oriented, with the ability to always represent Southern Door in a positive manner, maintaining a professional tone and approach to both verbal and written communications.
- Integrity and accountability.
- Willingness to learn and maintain a high level of product and industry knowledge.
- Completion of a high school diploma, with additional courses or training related to welding, electrical or other construction-related skills an asset.
- Valid Driver’s License, with clean driver’s abstract.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
