The Insurance Manager, North America will report directly to GHD’s General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, North America with indirect reporting to GHD’s Business Services Manager, Insurances (Australia).

**The key focus areas of the role will include**:

- Lead the preparation and planning for annual North American insurance procurement (i.e., aggregate $4M+ spend); support regarding GHD’s enterprise global insurance procurement Supervise and manage all client reporting requirements related to insurance renewals
- Act as first point of contact with insurers and insurance brokers for the purposes of
- procuring insurance policies,
- procuring project-specific policies or new coverages, and
- reporting of all potential professional liability claims
- Review and vet content of insurance policy language and suitability of same to meet specific and material contract obligations and corporate obligations, in parallel with conducting contract review of insurance requirements that contain unusual terms or may require project-specific policies;
- Management and oversight of the liability claims register* including reviewing all entries into the register for the purposes of communications to in-house counsel, the Legal, Risk & Compliance Leadership Team, insurers, and adjusters.

- Supervise the Legal, Risk, & Compliance Team’s handling of all potential property damage claims** (i.e., Automobile, Property, and CGL), including:

- providing advice when the parameters for filing a claim have been met, and
- troubleshooting any communications with difficult adjusters or addressing insurers’ concerns
- [**Day-to-day execution of this task will be executed by GHD’s Administrative Professional, Megan Horvat. First call advice will be provided by Kristen Ablitt. Solely matters with extenuating circumstances will require Insurance Manager advice]
- Oversee all requests for insurance certificates with particular attention to difficult or specialized requests that require special insurance policies, policy changes, or special endorsements**

[ _**Day-to-day aspects of this task will be handled by GHD’s Legal Administrative Professional, Angela Witt. Only challenging matters with unique client requests will be escalated to Insurance Manager _]
- Supervise the review and approval of insurance compliance documents for suppliers, including providing advice to GHD’s Business Group Leaders, Project Directors, and other Operations staff of the risks in retaining non-compliant suppliers
- Oversee procurement of all surety bonds required for construction work or permits, including liaising with the surety broker and Finance department with respect to the aggregate surety capacity**

- Assist in insurance facets of corporate transactions (as or if needed, pending any M&A activity by GHD)

**Desired skills and experience**
- Superior drafting, analytical, organization, time management, and task prioritization skills are essential
- French language skills would be an asset, but are not required
