**Job Type**:Full Time - 40 Hours per week

**Rate**: Competitive

**Shift**:Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

**Our Valve repair and modification Division includes the largest facility of its kind in Canada. As the “authorized” repair/modification center for numerous valve companies, and the only Canadian Company that is a member of the Valve Repair Council, Universe offers diverse and specialized services ranging from trim changes and extensions to full valve refurbishing back to OEM specifications. Universe Engineering services provide CRN# and certified processes accordingly.**

**Qualifications of** **Journeyperson Machinist - Manual Lathe and Mill**:

- Understanding of standard practices, materials, tools and methods of the Machinist’s trade with an ability to use all types of measuring tools and maintain calibrations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team from blueprints.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Strong understanding of and experience with Manual Mills and Lathes, Surface Grinders
- Skilled in the development of fixtures and jigs for new and ongoing projects
- Physical tasks include walking, grasping, carrying, lifting

**Required Skills**:

- Must be results driven, conscientious, dependable, punctual and possessing a strong work ethic
- Must possess strong communication skills, positive attitude and a strong sense of their true abilities
- General mechanical aptitude and mechanical background with emphasis on trouble shooting and problem solving

**Required Experience/Education of**Journeyperson Machinist - Manual Lathe and Mill**:

- Journeyperson Machinist

**Assets in Experience/Skills of**Journeyperson Machinist - Manual Lathe and Mill:

- Understand and read English
- Basic Computer
- Previous Machining Lathe/Mill/Boring Mill/Surface Grinder & Slotter experience is an asset
- 5 - 6 Years’ experience in Oil and Gas Valve Repair/Modification
- Fast pace shop
- Overtime required when necessary
