Responsible for ensuring that the Long-Term Care Home meets its regulatory obligations regarding providing an organized program of recreational and social activities for the home to meet the interests of the residents, per the FLTCA and Regulations.

Responsible for managing the planning, coordinating, and implementing of quality leisure and recreational programs for all Long-Term Care residents of Saint Luke’s Place and the overall organization and management of the Pastoral Care program, Program duties and responsibilities.

The Life Enrichment Manager is a member of the Management Team, and participates on committees, working groups and functional teams as assigned, including but not limited to - Quality Improvement Committee, Resident Care Committee, Palliative Care Committee. As this is a working manager role, the Life Enrichment Manager is also responsible for planning and delivering recreational and social activities for residents, as well as supervising the same function of any staff reporting to the manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Recreation Leadership or equivalent.
- 3-5 yrs. of supervisory or Management experience.
- Current knowledge of Gerontology and Long-Term Care standards.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of the legislative regulatory framework and an understanding of how to work within it.
- Required to adapt work schedule to ensure appropriate coverage of days, evenings, and weekends in the Home’s recreational and social program schedule, as well as to participate in special events and activities as assigned.
- Demonstrated experience with engagement and management of team members within recreational programs.
- Solid customer service and communication skills in English (written and oral) to interpret legislation, prepare reports, assist in the development of policies, and effectively convey information to recreation staff.
- Strong planning, time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. Must be committed to multi-disciplinary teamwork and demonstrate an ability to work through collaboration, joint decision making and integrated strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and work under pressure with a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated commitment to learning; continuous improvement; team building and mentorship
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire.

**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE**

1.Participates in relevant management activities with other management staff, including policy development and review, CQI activities and staff development.

2.Complies with Ministry of Health LTC standards, SEIU Collective Agreement, Accreditation, and applicable policies and procedures of the facility.

3.Interviews, hires, and supervises all Recreation Department staff.

4.Conducts staff meetings and educational sessions as necessary.

5.Prepares and maintains departmental manuals.

6.Plans and participates in public relations activities as requested by the Administrator.

7.Ensures all legislative requirements under the OHSA are met paying specific attention to the training of new employees, correcting unsafe acts or conditions, correcting or commending health and safety performance of employees and conducting performance appraisals for workers’ safety performance. (OHSA Sections 25, 26, 27).

8.Ensures injured workers receive medical attention; supports the ESRTW plan in accordance with WSIA and HS-105 (Saint Luke’s Place Health & Safety Program).

9.Conducts annual performance appraisals for departmental staff.

**VISION, MISSION, AND STRATEGIC POSITIONING**

1.In collaboration with the senior leadership team assists in the development of the mission, vision, value statement for the Home.

2.Performs all duties in accordance with legislation, the Mission, Vision, and Values Statement, Organizational and Management Philosophies and administrative policies and standards of Saint Luke’s Place

3.Works with the Long-Term Care Administrator and/or Chief Executive Officer on strategic planning and the setting of annual goals and objectives for the Life Enrichment programs

**COMMUNICATION/ PUBLIC RELATIONS**

1.Meets with the Life Enrichment team members on a regular basis and provides guidance on compliant issues, risk management, and resident care issues.

2.Communicates any high-risk issues to the Long-Term Care Administrator and/or Chief Executive Officer

3.Attends post admissions, resident reviews and any other care conferences as required. Participates in facility committees as requested to promote a cross-functional approach.
