**Overview**
We are a boutique law firm focused on immigration, administrative, and criminal matters. As we grow, we seek a detail-oriented Legal Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and shares our commitment to excellence.
Under the supervision of two lawyers, you will be the logístical backbone of client files—from intake through final disposition. Your organizational skills, client-centred communication, and comfort with legal technology will ensure matters progress smoothly and deadlines are never missed.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Draft retainer agreements based on precedents and client correspondence
- Open, maintain, and close physical and electronic files; ensure orderly file organization
- Communicate with clients to gather information and supporting documents
- Enter time in Clio, including administrative and non-billable tasks
- Coordinate Court, tribunal, and IRCC e-filings; arrange physical filings and service logistics
- Prepare affidavits and statutory declarations, formatting exhibits to court standards
- Schedule interpreters/translators and manage certified translations
- Update firm precedents, templates, and knowledge-base materials
- Conduct basic legal and policy research (e.g., IRCC program delivery instructions)
- Track statutory and internal deadlines; monitor IRCC portals daily
- Schedule meetings for lawyer and clients; maintain firm calendar
- Process daily mail: scan, distribute, and alert recipients promptly
**What You Bring**
- 2+ years’ experience in a law office
- Proficiency with Clio (or similar practice-management software), Adobe, and MS 365
- Impeccable attention to detail and file management discipline
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to juggle competing priorities and thrive under deadlines
- Familiarity with BC Supreme Court, Federal Court, and tribunal filing protocols is an asset
- Fluency in a second language is an advantage but not required
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
