Expression of Interest for the position of Spare Head Bus Driver
Kings County Area
Hours of work: As needed basis
Rate of Pay: As per CUPE Collective Agreement ($29.44)
Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.
The Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education invites expressions of interest for a Head Bus Driver position required on an as needed basis to support operations in the Kings County Area.
Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, responsibilities will include:
- Operate a school bus in accordance with all safety standards as prescribed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and in accordance with School Board Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain discipline on school buses and follow Board policies and procedures of incidents of buses
- Organize and maintain extra-curricular urns and assign drivers according to Board policies and procedures
- Maintains school bus runs and students assigned to runs
- Assign spare drivers to replace regular drivers according to contract (including the training of spare bus driver applicants)
- Inspect school buses for cleanliness and ensure that all appropriate paperwork is in order
- Answer calls from the public and give out information as it pertains to bus scheduling and transportation operations (including school bus stops)
- Other duties as outlined in the job description
- Must be a minimum age of 19 years, have a current Nova Scotia Operator’s License Class 2B with air brake endorsement.
- Clean driving record and up-to-date medical and vision tests
- Applicants will be expected to respect confidentiality and privacy
- Applicants will be expected to adhere with legislation. Board policies and administrative procedures.
- Available to qualified permanent employees from the Members of the Bus Driver classification_ _within the CUPE Bargaining Unit Local 3876_
