Job Details
Develop and deliver courses and labs related to Motive Power Training;
Engage students in the classroom and lab environment ensuring learner awareness of curriculum and evaluation of learning;
Provide a learning environment that makes effective use of available resources based on the cooperative learning theory and incorporates a variety of teaching and learning strategies to meet various learning styles;
Evaluate student progress and achievement;
Actively contribute to student success;
Actively participate as a team member in departmental functions, initiatives and committee work;
Advocate and market the program and the College in a positive manner;
Teaching related courses in other College programs may be required; and
Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Job Requirements
Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Certificate of Qualification (421A) and/or Truck/Coach Certification (310T) and/or Automotive Service Certificate of Qualification (310S)
Thorough knowledge of field you hold certification/s in
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the Transportation Industry
A current driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
Proven experience in project management;
Proven ability to work in a team environment and a demonstrated commitment to life-long learning;
Previous teaching experience;
**Previous experience in the following areas**: Heavy Duty power transmission and control systems; diesel fuel systems; hydraulic systems; brakes and steering; and tracked equipment;
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with alternate delivery strategies;
Experience in the areas of curriculum/program development, alternative delivery strategies, student success strategies, adult learning theories;
Experience with program coordination; and
Commitment to education equity to teach diverse student populations and work with colleagues or clients from various backgrounds.
Additional experience in some of the following areas would be an asset:

- The successful applicant will be required to submit a criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening prior to commencement of employment.
