Overview:
**Term: 6 Months**

The Coordinator, International Agreements is responsible for the coordination and administration of the University of Waterloo’s international agreements stewardship process in support of the University’s internationalization strategies and goals. Working with the Manager, International Agreements, the Coordinator drafts, reviews, negotiates and stewards contracts/agreements, and is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of process improvements. The Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders and partner universities and organizations worldwide.

**Responsibilities**:
Agreement Stewardship and Administration
- Coordinates and maintains accurate and consistent international agreement records and information
- Stewards a variety of agreement types through efficient workflow processes including assessment, consultation, drafting and negotiating, internal review, finalizing and executing, monitoring and reporting
- Monitors and provides action when required through the lifetime of an agreement
- Assists the Manager, International Agreements in the consultation and negotiation of agreements
- Prepares standard draft agreements
- Oversees the preparation of finalized agreements and the routing of agreements for signature
- Communicates to the University community when new/renewal agreements are executed
- Develops and prepares ad hoc and scheduled reports
- Researches, maintains knowledge and effectively communicates information related to University and partner policies and procedures, agreement administration best practices and common contract terms and language
- Helps to ensure complete and accurate documentation is maintained during agreement stages, including negotiations, for due diligence purposes

Agreement Review
- Reviews and negotiates draft agreements, interprets contract terms and language, and provides detailed editorial support to Manager, International Agreements
- Proofreads draft agreements
- Finalizes, proofs and formats draft agreements

Process Development and Implementation
- Leads the implementation of process improvement projects, ensuring efficient and effective agreement stewardship and administration while helping to ensure close collaboration and effective communication within WI and with University stakeholders
- Plays a key implementation role and maintains ongoing expertise related to the client/business process management software employed by Waterloo International
- Plays a coordination role on special projects related to international agreement administration and partnership building

Relationship Building
- Employs strong intercultural communication skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with key contacts at partner universities and organizations and within the University
- Plays a lead client service role in responding to inquiries and information requests from partner universities and organizations and the University community
- Engages and supports University stakeholders operationalizing activities under international agreements
- Works closely with members of Waterloo International (in particular, the International Relations Managers) as well as other University departments, to address agreement questions, problem solve issues, and collaborate on furthering partnership goals
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience. Master’s degree or professional designation preferred
- 3 years contract/agreement management or related administrative experience
- 1-2 years process improvement experience
- Experience working in intercultural and/or international settings
- Direct experience with client relationship and/or records management software
- Contract/agreement review and negotiation experience highly desirable
- Progressive experience in a university environment preferred
- Project management experience
- Familiarity with student mobility programming a strong asset
- Proven strength in relationship building and partnership management
- Demonstrated critical thinking, judgement and decision-making skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Established research and analytical skills
- Demonstrated time-management skills with ability to work in a high-volume environment with competing deadlines
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Outstanding organizational abilities
