**About you**
You are someone with a Postgraduate level degree, masters/doctorate, from a recognized university in nutrition or public health. Other relevant discipline will be considered with significant relevant experience. You have at least 5 years of experience in programs relating to adolescent health and nutrition, and/or maternal health and nutrition, and/or SRH and nutrition in low
- and middle
- income countries or low resource settings, including at least 2 years of field experience. You have experience and a sound understanding of health systems and of girls’ and women’s health and equity issues.
Successful completion of work assignments in at least one developing country or resource setting and work experience in Africa is essential. Experience with managing or conducting research is an asset. Experience with gender responsive (nutrition or public health) program design and implementation is an asset.
Fluency in verbal and written English is required.
**About the role**
- Project Implementation, Management and Monitoring_
- Provide gender sensitive nutrition technical assistance to strengthen the NI-led work as guided by senior technical advisors.
- Coordinate and monitor provision of technical advice by NI or other external experts to project staff in support of the implementation of NI-led work as per BRIGHT annual work plans and budget.
- Assess and monitor the project team’s nutrition technical capacity and resource needs, and foster development opportunities through technical updates, training, information sharing and coaching.
- Provide technical assistance in program monitoring and implementation of adolescent, maternal health, and nutrition services.
- Provide support to the BRIGHT Project team for the subcontracting and management of local and international consultants, by supporting the Project team to identify and select consultants, define scope of work, develop Terms of Reference, and verify and review consultant reports and deliverables.
- Support BRIGHT’s Project Director and team in the systematic collection, analysis and synthesis of information to inform program improvements.
- Work closely with BRIGHT’s Project Director and project team to analyze maternal nutrition activities, findings, results and lessons, and help synthesize and review donor reports and other key project documents.
- For nutrition technical issues, troubleshoot and recommend corrective action drawing on internal NI expertise from senior technical staff in HQ, and Regional Offices, as necessary.
- Technical support to research planning and management_
- Establish and support BRIGHT-specific research and/or technical coordination team consisting of relevant senior technical staff in HQ, and NI’s Africa Regional Office, and relevant partners to support the planning, design, and implementation of identified gender and youth responsive nutrition and sexual reproductive health research, as well as health economic studies under BRIGHT.
- Develop, maintain, and implement a plan/s developed by the BRIGHT research/technical coordination team, organize regular meetings and document decisions to inform the Research and Project workplans.
- Support the design, implementation, knowledge translation and dissemination of results from the research studies under BRIGHT in conjunction with the relevant members of the research coordination team.
- Knowledge Translation_
- Contribute, as delegated, to knowledge translation documents such as policy briefs, summary briefs, blogs, and case studies on topics that include, but are not limited to, formative research, behavior change intervention strategies, supply chain management, health management information systems, nutrition policies, gender equality and gender equity issues related to health in nutrition.
- Contribute, as delegated, to peer-reviewed publications and/or other documentation to disseminate lessons learned and key findings arising from BRIGHT including all research activities.
- Together with the BRIGHT Project team, identify lessons learned, good practices and other programming experiences that can be documented to provide guidance for integration of gender and youth responsive nutrition and sexual reproductive health services and successful implementation.
