Division Inclusion/Mental Health Coach
1.0 FTE Interim Position
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support staff, at elbow, within the natural school environment (classroom, lunch, recess, playground, etc.) in developing strategies and skills to manage challenging emotional reactions and behaviours and model appropriate social/emotional and/or behavioural strategies with the student
Model appropriate research-based strategies and interventions for individual students and classroom management strategies
Provide timely written documentation of observations and strategies
Design, develop and support high quality professional development opportunities
Assist parents and school staff in formulating, implementing and monitor support plans for students
Explore underlying causes of severe emotional and behavioural concerns
Facilitate school collaboration meetings in the role as school point person and collaborate with the Student Service Support Team
Support school based inclusive education coordinators and counsellors to build capacity in working with all students
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
Knowledgeable with respect to effective instruction for students with identified needs
Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to build strong collegial, collaborative relationships
Ability to provide leadership in the areas of positive emotional/behavioral support and effective academic interventions
Knowledge of psychological diagnoses and the impact that delays/disorders have on students
Ability to complete a functional emotional/behavioural assessment through collecting and analyzing data
Ability to be flexible and provide creative solutions to complex problems
Demonstrated 5 years of exemplary teaching practice and experience with students with challenging behaviours
**Education**:
Bachelor of Education and a valid teaching certificate in Alberta
Additional training or professional development in the areas of trauma informed practices, emotional/behavioural supports, inclusive education, and counselling
A valid driver’s license, clean drivers’ abstract, vehicle and willingness to drive to all school sites
SIVA certification, VTRA Level 1, Suicide Prevention Training, Mental Health Literacy, or a willingness to complete certification
- Detailed portfolio outlining qualifications and supporting document
- Recent pastoral reference
- Two letters of reference

Teachers instruct the Faith through permeated lessons and through their example. To honour the importance of witness for our educators, all staff must sign the Faith Requirement Form, as a condition of employment.
