**Financial Controller**

Mel’s Enterprises is an Island based company which owns and operates retail gasoline outlets, convenience stores and quick food service restaurants in the Maritimes. We currently have 14 Mel’s locations and operate under the brands of Petro-Canada, Shell, Thai Express, Robins, Country Style & Mr Sub. Mel’s business has grown thanks to our excellent staff and focus on customer service.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements and analysis
- Reporting on KPIs and profitability to management
- Assist management with financial projections and budgets
- Assist the Vice President of Finance in gathering required information for financing projects and investments
- Oversee all accounting functions, system controls, cash flow and month-end procedures including bank reconciliations, account reconciliations and accruals
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable ensuring timeliness and accuracy
- Oversee HR and Payroll administration
- Day-to-day accounting functions including compliance with external reporting requirements
- Maintain inventory records while working with managers to improve profitability
- Coordinate annual audit and tax filings
- Provide training and assistance to team members as required

Qualifications:

- CPA designation and a minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Proven experience performing a similar role will also be considered
- Strong understanding of financial statements and financial reporting
- Proven organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven experience supervising and managing a team
- Detail oriented and dedication to accuracy
- Team player able to work collaboratively with management and staff

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $75,000.00 per year
