**Purpose**:

With a commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, Facilities Services works with campus partners to provide exceptional customer service and satisfaction in alignment with the University's core values.The Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective administration of capital construction projects. The Construction Project Manager coordinates the day-to-day activities in the on-going process from pre-design services through design development, construction, commissioning, and close-out of Capital Building Projects while ensuring that elements of the client/user needs are incorporated into the design and construction of the project. The role also follows-up with issues and items daily ensuring the smooth flow of information and activities relating to the project. The Construction Project Manager acts as a project liaison officer and manages the client relationship. The position also oversees budget, management of procurement activities, and involves leading the multi/user/construction /project development process. The Construction Project Manager further supports York's commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion.
**Education**:
- Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Architecture.
- Professional license to practice Engineering or Architecture in Canada or equivalent experience.
**Experience**:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in construction project development, including 4 years of management experience in the institutional facilities sector.
**Skills**:
Knowledge
- Knowledge of design process, including knowledge of Client-Architect Agreement, Client-CM/Contractor Agreement, and other relevant agreements.
- Planning, architectural, design, and estimating construction and commissioning on capital projects and engineering processes.
- Construction procedures and project management principles.
- Understanding of complex institutional facilities.
- Understanding the RFP process and tendering processes.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and government legislation and how they can be applied in a University Environment.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, standards and practices.
Skills
- Ability to build excellent relations with a broad range of clients.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.
- Excellent financial planning and analysis skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to model multiple problem-solving approaches and identify optimal solutions based on the unique needs of each client.
- Ability to foster an environment of trust, support and accountability while modelling respect for employees.
- Ability to develop and/or lead cohesive teams and manage performance and productivity.
**Additional Notes**:
- Works within a typical office environment (actual and/or virtual).
- Attends construction sites.
- Travel required to client sites for meetings and consultations.
- **Compensation**:
York implemented a revised CPM Compensation Framework in 2019. The Framework is a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
