ABOUT THE ROLE
SOCAN is seeking a Collections and Distribution Specialist who will join the Royalties and Distribution Team. Reporting to the VP, Reproduction Rights Operations, you will be responsible for the reconciliation of payments to physical licensing reports. This includes the creation and processing of distribution reports for physical products from various licensees as well as invoice generation and collections in adherence with our invoicing policy. You will be responsible for contacting licensees to obtain or clarify missing information and any third-party escalations where appropriate. This role is also accountable for the maintenance and delivery of the ageing report to management and Finance. As the careful management of our client’s revenue is of vital importance to our business, your attention to detail, comprehension of copyright and time management skills are essential to this role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processing sales reports, Data Entry, Invoicing, Account Management for physical products
- Reconcile payments, validate rates and calculations, and modify system records for physical products
- Accountable for the maintenance and delivery of the ageing report to all stakeholders (Finance, RR Operations and Licensing) on a monthly basis
- Process payment adjustments such as Refund cheques, Non-Sufficient Funds cheques, etc.
- Process mailing of letters and eBlasts related to Physical licensing where necessary
- Month end collating and distribution of reports and statements (where necessary)
- Support Royalties and Distribution team activities where needed (i.e. projects, redundancy, etc.)
- Data clean-up as required
- Other duties as required

WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education
- Post-Secondary education

Experience
- Knowledge or experience in the music industry/copyright
- Experience working with large data sets
- Experience working with financials and/or invoicing
- Comprehension of Reproduction Rights is an asset
- Comprehension of Performing Rights is an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools

- Fluent in both French and English
