We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team in an Adult Day Program for individuals with dementia. As part of a two-person team, you will be responsible for assisting clients with personal care while at the Day Program, supporting clients in their daily routines, encouraging social engagement, promoting cognitive and physical activity, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care while fostering a warm and respectful atmosphere for individuals living with dementia.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist in planning, facilitating, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs tailored to individuals with dementia, ensuring activities are engaging and meaningful.
- Support clients in participating in activities such as arts and crafts, music therapy, light physical exercises, and cognitive games.
- Provide personal care assistance, including help with mobility, transfers, and assistance in the washroom as needed.
- Encourage social interaction and cognitive stimulation through structured group and individual activities.
- Monitor clients' well-being, noting any changes in behavior, mood, or physical condition, and report findings to the interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with colleagues to adapt and modify activities to meet the diverse needs of clients.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment by following all health and safety protocols and assisting with the setup and cleanup of activities.
- Maintain accurate records of client participation, progress, and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of the programs.
- Foster a compassionate, respectful, and inclusive environment for clients, ensuring dignity and autonomy are preserved at all times.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Personal Support Worker certificate
- 3 years' experience working with individuals living with Dementia and Alzheimer's disease is **required**:

- DementiAbility training and experience (formerly known as Montessori Methods for Dementia)
- Additional requirements before employment include up-to-date CPR and First Aid, a clean Vulnerable Sector Check and 3 year driver’s abstract, Food Handler’s certificate

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Being able to endure sitting, standing, walking, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling
- Lift up to 50lbs
- Be on your feet for up to 7hrs per day.
- Employee is expected to make quick decisions (coming up with meaningful activities on the spot, if needed), problem solve, read or write, and speak publicly.
