The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist reports to the Director of OHS. The role will endeavour to ensure that appropriate time, resources and employees are made available to facilitate all aspects of this Corporate OH&S Policy, Program and Procedures. To endeavour to ensure that the operation and management of GWLRA-Managed Assets and all GWLRA Personnel and Contractors comply with this Corporate OH&S Policy, Program and Procedures and in conjunction with the OH&S National Advisory Committee. To monitor, and communicate where appropriate, Applicable OH&S Legislation and any anticipated initiatives by Regulatory Authorities that could have a significant effect on business. The position is located out of 33 Yonge Street, Toronto Ontario.
**OHS Specialist Core Responsibilities**:

**Ergonomics**:
- Coordinating Pre-Assessment form completion by employee and manager
- If risks are not controlled by general remedies, engaging an external consultant to assess the risks
- Coordinating consultant’s deliverables and reviewing the assessments
- Ensuring the recommendations for the assessments are purchased and installed for the employee
- Researching best pricing and equipment
- Following up with the manager of the employee to ensure the accommodations are working
**WCB and OH&S ESRTW**:
- Ensuring OHS Incidents are reported on time
- Ensuring the incidents are reviewed and sent to Payroll
- Ensuring the identified corrective measures are applied
- Facilitating Return to Work requirements for any injured employee that requires a modified duty until back to pre-injury status
- Coordinating and documenting acknowledgement form, list of restricted duties as per the medical functional abilities form and an agreed upon list of modified tasks
- Interacting regularly (daily, weekly, as required) with both parties
**OH&S Awareness Training**:
- Updating new employees on the system bi-weekly
- Assigning employees with proper level of training as per risks in their roles/positions in the organization
- Monitoring the on-line training system
- Working with the service provider to update the training content as per changes in legislation and the organization
- Recording the completion status and keeping the completion status records up-to date and current.
**National Advisory Committee (NAC) and Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC)**:
- Preparing monthly meeting agenda
- Preparing monthly meeting minutes
- Preparing monthly deliverables as per the goals and objectives
- Interacting regularly with regional managers and employees regarding workplace hazards and agreed upon controls
- Updating and maintaining the OH&S intranet sites and spaces
- Organizing the annual NAC Conference
- Onboarding new NAC members
**OH&S Site/Building Specific Training**:
- Reviewing and revising content as per the provincial regulation
- Researching best consultant and or training provider to deliver the training
- Coordinating the training in the appropriate region and location
- Assisting with invoicing and best pricing
- Setting up scheduling, course binders and content
- Maintaining the training records
**OH&S Communication**:
- Providing weekly updates to internal intranet and systems
- Driving OH&S safety campaigns and bulletins
- Responding to general inquiries
- Incorporating branding requirements
- Updating Eye on Safety Protocols for OHS lessons learned
- Coordinating Web-ex training requirements
**OH&S Training Matrix**:
- Implementing newly developed Section 27 of OH&S Manual
- Assisting Supervisors with the completion of the self-assessment training matrix
- Assisting with OH&S onboarding requirements
- Ensuring frequency and refresher training is coordinated
- Managing the escalation procedure for delinquent training status
**MSDS and SDS Coordination**:
- Maintaining current CCOHS program for Safety Data Sheets
- Ensuring WHMIS training guides are communicated to applicable staff
- Providing CCOHS with newly acquired sites
- Setting up regional site representatives to access building specific SDS
- Researching OH&S programs and t
**Qualifications/Other**:
- Degree or Technical Diploma in OH&S and or EH&S,
- 3-5 years’ experience in the Real Estate Property Management Industry,
- Bilingual (FRE/ENG) (asset/preferred)
- Experience in Safety Management Systems
- Proficient working in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Outlook
