**Position Summary**:
AGF is seeking an experienced **Director of Procurement** to lead our procurement function. Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will lead a team of two purchasers and be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that optimize cost, ensure product quality, and enhance supplier relationships. A key priority will be sourcing new suppliers and materials to support AGF’s operational needs and contribute to the product development process.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Strategic Planning & Procurement Execution_
- Develop and implement global procurement sourcing strategies.
- Forecast market trends and anticipate pricing and other cost changes (freight) to optimize procurement decisions.
- Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to secure competitive pricing, quality, and service levels.
- Analyze supplier performance, assess risks, and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
- Optimize procurement processes to drive cost savings while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Supplier & Vendor Management_
- Identify and establish strong partnerships with key suppliers that align with AGF’s long-term goals.
- Manage supplier relationships to enhance value, reliability, and product innovation.
- Oversee global sourcing efforts and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Leadership & Collaboration_
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of purchasing professionals to excel in their day-to-day operational activities that include monitoring inventory usage and stock levels, issuing purchase orders, building containers, optimizing freight, etc.
- Ensure clear lines of communication are maintained between procurement, operations, marketing, sales, and finance to optimize efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain KPIs to measure supplier performance, cost savings, and freight expenses, etc.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.
- A professional purchasing or supply chain management designation would be an asset.
- 10+ years of experience in global procurement and supply chain management.
- Strong leadership, planning, and execution skills.
- Strong understanding of distributor organizations, distribution, and warehousing.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiations, supplier relationship management, and global sourcing.
- Knowledge of MRP systems, inventory management, and distributor operations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel regionally, nationally, and internationally, as required (driver’s license and passport).
**Work Location**: In person at our head office in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
