Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities. The district enrolls approximately 21,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.

We are currently looking for a full-time permanent Plumber to join our Facilities Services department to perform plumbing duties at the journeyperson level across the district’s 53 facilities.

Major

**Responsibilities**:
Installing, upgrading, repairing, and testing plumbing components, equipment and systems such as sanitary, storm, potable, natural gas, propane, compressed air and sprinkler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation;
Responding to plumbing and piping emergencies throughout the district facilities;
Provides technical advice and information to District staff as required;
Operating a district vehicle and maintaining the vehicle’s electrical equipment and materials inventory as necessary.

Performs other job related duties of comparable importance, difficulty and responsibility as required.

Required Qualifications

Grade 12 or equivalent plus a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Apprenticeship in Plumbing or equivalent apprenticeship training and a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing (T.Q.);
Two (2) years’ experience at a Journeyperson level in commercial or institutional service work, including maintenance, repair and installation of commercial and industrial equipment.

Thorough knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures, and equipment applicable to the plumbing trade.

Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and complete assignments with mínimal supervision.

Excellent communication skills.

Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

This is a unionized position that offers a 40-hour work week with an hourly wage of $34.77, plus a comprehensive benefit package including Municipal Pension, health, vacation, and sick benefits.
