**Position Overview**

The Project Coordinator (Civil Engineering) will have a high level of technical responsibility. Their primary function is to coordinate project activities, recordkeeping, and liaison with the Owner's and/or General Contractor's site representative. This position is seen as an entry level project management position providing employees with on-the-job training for career advancement and personal development.

The Project Coordinator will be part of a team responsible for:

- Completing long tunnels and micro-tunnelling drives using different machines
- Completing deep shaft excavations using different sinking methods
- Overall supervision of setting up mining shaft compounds
- Overall supervision of sewer and watermain open cut, rehabilitation, and surface restoration operations

**Job Function**
- Maintain a complete record of construction activities on site on a daily report
- Establish, maintain and post schedule on site, coordinate and monitor activities in relation to the schedule and advise management of impacts
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent to develop and execute the work in a planned manner
- Post Daily Reports, photos and payroll records in Drop Box
- Be knowledgeable and up to date with contract, drawings and specifications for the project
- Identify work that is not part of the contract and advise the Project Manager
- Track and record labour, equipment, materials and services utilized on extra work for signing by the Owner’s or General Contractor representative for payment purposes
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors working on site
- Provide technical support to project Foreman/Superintendent within limits of ability and authority
- Obtain quotes and order materials for the site through PO's
- Maintain daily photographic record of construction activities
- Monitor site for compliance with health and safety requirements and advise management of any concerns
- Maintain site safety records and all relevant documentation to comply with the requirements of OHSA
- Coordinate safety training in liaison with Company Safety Officer and General Contractor (if one)
- Arrange for utility stakeouts as required and maintain records of same
- Record changes in the construction for as-built drawings
- Prepare monthly progress report for billing by the Project Manager
- Record time for payroll and submit to Head office for processing
- Report any work place injuries promptly to management and carry out WSIB procedures in accordance with company policy

**Education/Experience Requirements**
- A degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution
- Registration with the association of Professional Engineers of Ontario as a P.Eng. or E.IT.
- Job site experience in heavy construction, shaft and tunnel construction in rock, soft ground and mixed conditions, pipe jacking, micro-tunnelling, interlocking caissons, ground freezing, etc.

**Other Skills/Abilities**
- The ability to work with a wide variety of construction trades, engineers, inspectors, owner's and utility representatives.
- Other duties may include assisting on pre-qualifications, tender estimates, and the development of equipment and tunnelling procedures as required. These duties are also viewed as a great avenue for professional development
- Proficiency in computer software in everyday use in construction: Word, Excel, MS Project Manger, CAD, Adobe.
- Good communication skills to efficiently deal with workers, clients, authorities and maintain clear and concise site documentation
- Ability to work a full construction day up to 12 hours when necessary, with the possibility of night and weekend work being required.
- The physical capability of being able to frequently climb the ladder in shaft manways.
- A vehicle and driver's license to go to job sites away from public transit.

**Physical Demands**
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to climb and down deep shafts and going into small and large diameter tunnel.

**Work Environment**
- Employee is generally required to work on site throughout the year.

Pay: $70,000.00-
