**The Outside Salesperson position at Yantzi Home Building Centre in Tavistock, Ontario is an exciting, fast paced and flexible role that will be spent both in office working on quotes and take offs or on the road meeting contractors on site to review jobs. The responsibility of an outside salesperson is developing and maintaining accounts. Duties include being familiar with pricing, local building codes, and types of building permits issued, maintaining call references and prospective files, preparing quotations, as well as a variety of other related duties. The Outside Salesperson must perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support a high level of customer service and achieve sales profitability.**
**DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Develop, maintain and grow sales to contractor and commercial accounts.
- Be familiar with and maintain up-to-date information on pricing.
- Be familiar with local building codes and types of building permits issued.
- Communicate product knowledge to the customer as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain sales call reference files and prospect lists.
- Be familiar with prices, practices, and policies of the company’s competitors.
- Establish and adhere to a regular schedule for calling on accounts.
- Help customers solve building problems.
- Develop and maintain current files on new products.
- Keep up to date on practical knowledge of building materials and lumber products, including their uses, advantages, and disadvantages.
- Resolve customer complaints.
- Attend bid openings and make quotations.
- Be familiar with current yard inventory and surplus items.
- Keep complete, accurate records of expenses.
- Maintain professional confidentiality of all store and customer records.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- High School graduation or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with employees, management, suppliers, customers, and prospective customers to obtain accurate information for bids, pricing, estimates, quotations, etc.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret written and printed materials and information presented in numerical and / or statistical form.
- Ability to operate equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks efficiently and safely, including a computer, vehicle(s), etc.
- Must possess mathematical skills necessary to prepare accurate and competitive bids in a timely manner.
- Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere.
