Part-time Physicians for Cancer-related Fatigue Clinic

**Job Summary**:
Cancer-related fatigue is the most common and among the most burdensome survivorship issues experienced by people living with and after cancer. It is treatable but largely unaddressed. We are seeking compassionate and experienced physicians with family medicine/general practice training to join our clinic in Toronto on a part-time basis to deliver high quality care and restore hope for the thousands of affected individuals living across the greater Toronto area and province. Experience in oncology or complex symptom management training (e.g. palliative care) are assets but are not required. On-the-job training and mentorship from a senior oncologist and palliative care physician will be provided. In this role, you will provide comprehensive fatigue assessments, counselling, and care for people experiencing cancer-related fatigue with strong support from allied health care professionals. Your expertise will be invaluable in diagnosing, treating, and supporting these patients as they navigate their cancer journey.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Patient Care:
- Conduct detailed medical assessments and deliver personalized counselling for people experiencing cancer-related fatigue, supported by a multidisciplinary team.
- Review the detailed assessment results and develop personalized treatment plans to address the physical, emotional and mental causes and consequences of cancer-related fatigue.
- Coordinate and monitor ongoing care for patients, adjusting treatment plans as needed. Collaborating with oncologists and specialists when necessary.
- Health Education: In conjunction with other health care professionals, educate patients and their families about related health conditions and treatment options, as well as lifestyle modifications and preventive measures.
Clinical Expertise:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in cancer-related fatigue management. Onboarding training will be provided by our Medical Director and our broader team of physicians and allied healthcare providers.
- Continuing Education: We support ongoing training and mentorship to ensure you stay informed about the latest developments in cancer and fatigue care through continuous medical education and research.
Communication:
- Effectively communicate with patients, their families, and caregivers, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.
- Offer ongoing emotional support and counselling as part of a multidisciplinary team to patients facing the challenges of fatigue during and following cancer treatment.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with all medical record-keeping standards and regulations within the clinic EMR.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers within the clinic and community to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for our patients.
Advancement & Promotion:

**Qualifications**:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school
- Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in Ontario (CPSO)
- Board certification in Family Medicine (CCFP)
- Subspecialty training or experience in the field of oncology, palliative care, or cancer-related fatigue are assets but not required
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Compassion and empathy in dealing with patients and their families
- Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Dedication to evidence-based practice and continuous learning
