**Carpenter (General Repair Technician GRT)**

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

**Responsible for**

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:

- Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
- Framing
- Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
- Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included)
- Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
- Insulation and vapour barrier installation
- Being awesome, in general
- Installation
- Doors
- Trim, moldings, and baseboards
- Hardware installation
- Cabinetry

**What you bring**

The GRT brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:

- Experience working in construction environments
- Tools and the skills to use them
- Strong people and communication skills
- Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
- A safety mindset
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Ability to communicate in English

**Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory**:

- Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
- IICRC certification (restoration focus)
- WHMIS
- First Aid

**Of Note**

On call rotation is not required for this role.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $27.00-$34.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed

- Are you comfortable working in disaster environments such as water damage and fire damage?
- Do you have any experience with demolition? If yes, please describe what you have demolished and tools you have used.
- Are you a Finishing Carpenter that can take job from insulation to completed task?
- Please list your strengths and weaknesses with your in-home carpentry skills: which tasks are you better at and which do you want to learn more about?
- Tell us about your experience with ceiling texture, can you do popcorn and California knockdown
- Are you skilled in drywall, paint and trim work? Can you make a damaged wall look like nothing has happened or do you need alternate trades assistance?
- When not working on finish carpentry projects a majority of the role (70%) is drywall and painting. Are you comfortable and experienced with this type of work?
