**About the Role**:
This position provides parks and facility maintenance duties for the Town of Saugeen Shores. Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the **Operator 4** (Parks and Facilities Attendant 1) performs the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Town facilities including sports fields, washrooms, parks and grounds, cemeteries, trails, and gardens. The incumbent will work in a team environment alongside other operators and contractors.
**Job Responsibiities**:
- Perform the day-to-day operation and maintenance of sports fields, parks, trails, cemeteries, horticulture, and grounds.
- Operate equipment such as tractors, light and medium trucks, garbage mini-packer, zero-turns and finishing grass mowers, trail and sports park-grooming implements in parks and grounds.
- Perform manual duties involving basic repairs, and service and maintenance work to park equipment such as turf, ball diamonds, playgrounds, fencing and washrooms.
- Perform manual duties involving facility cleaning, basic repairs, and service and maintenance work to town facilities.
- Assist with seasonal opening and closing of facilities.
- May provide work direction to seasonal student staff.
- Interact and provide good judgement and customer service to park patrons in a courteous manner.
**Education and Training**:
- High School Diploma with a preference for post-secondary training in parks/facility management or related trades/disciplines
- Valid Class G Driver’s License
- Standard First Aid & CPR/AED (or willing to obtain)
- Additional certification through professional organizations such as Certified Parks Technician and Certified Playground Inspector Certificate an asset
**Experience, Knowledge and Skills**:
- A minimum of one (1) year of work-related experience
- Turf management, working from Heights, Playground Safety Awareness, Landscape Exterminators License, Horticulture, Trails etc.
- Customer service experience
- Experience and skills relating to park and facility maintenance.
- Technical experience and knowledge within facility and park Operations such as building controls, electrical systems, plumbing and energy management, turf and grounds maintenance, and sport field maintenance.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.
- Sound judgment and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and staff.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Computer literacy with experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to work within Automation Systems (irrigation), and Work Order Systems (i.e. Cityworks).
**Hours**:40 hours per week including weekend and evenings shifts
**Wage**:$23.23 to $26.16 per hour based on qualifications and experience (unionized position)
