Highlights of the job
We are hiring a Full Time Permanent Line Locator/Field Technician position working out of Aylmer, Ontario.
The Line Locator/Field Technician is accountable for providing project and third party locates with the EPCOR Natural Gas franchise area. This includes completing locates within five days required by law, and all the required paperwork that is required on the job site.
What you’d be responsible for
- Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics including meeting customer expectations, operational effectiveness and efficiency outcomes such a productivity, quality, reliability and on time delivery.
- Locating utility infrastructure for customers, contractors and project teams and providing reports and/or drawings for locates after completion.
- Ensuring that all data related to the installation is documented and recorded.
- Proficiently operating locating equipment; maintaining transmitters and locator equipment and ensuring locates are done efficiently and accurately.
- Inspecting installations and ensuring compliance and liaising with Supervisors to review project designs.
- Changing/installing new meters at customer’s homes.
- Ability to respond and support Gas Technicians during emergency incidents and to be available for standby schedule rotation and able to perform gas technician duties on call.
- Utilizing working knowledge of Natural Gas Utility Safety Rules.
- Providing back-up support to other departments, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities and/or necessary departmental or corporate objectives.
- Performing Gas Technician duties as assigned by the Field Operations Lead Hand/Supervisor.
- Working in a safe and efficient manner, following health and safety legislation/regulations and department policies/procedures/practices and reporting unsafe practices to Supervisor.
- Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.
What’s required to be successful
- Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent
- Ontario TSSA Gas Technician Certificate G2 or GPI
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License
- Solid understanding or Natural Gas Distribution and/or Gas Systems
