Quality Assurance Technician

Reporting to the Quality Manager or designate, the Quality Assurance Technician will provide critical lab testing support both for incoming product with primary focus on procedures/standards and document analysis. The Quality Assurance Technician will support with sample testing in IGPC’s Corn Receiving Area and laboratory testing required for ethanol and co-product production. **Minimum Qualifications and Skills** - Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. - University Degree or College Diploma in Chemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Sciences, or other related fields. - Must possess the appropriate technical knowledge to maintain and operate all lab equipment and ensure adherence to our Quality Assurance Program. - Ability to work rotating shifts (day and afternoon shifts), including weekends. - Demonstrated: - effective communication and organizational skills, - a keen interest in learning all lab equipment, - a strong learning capacity and attention to detail, - comprehension in the importance of adhering to our internal Quality Assurance Program, - teamwork and problem-solving skills, and - proficiency in all forms of written communications. - Proven positive attitude - Previous customer service experience is an asset. - Fluent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. - Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and work prioritization skills. **Core Competencies** - Accountability/Dependability - Adaptability - Analytical Thinking - Communication - Compliance - Continuous Improvement - Creative/Innovative Thinking - Critical Thinking - Customer Focus - Decision Making/Judgement - Detail Oriented - Development and Continuous Learning - Energy & Stress Management - Ethics/Integrity - Mathematical Reasoning - Mediating/Negotiating - Networking/Relationship Building - Planning/Organizing - Problem Solving - Quality Orientation - Research/Analysis - Resourcefulness - Result Focus - Strategic Thinking - Teamwork - Time Management **Responsibilities** Support the Quality Department on a daily basis including: - Able to work 12 hours rotating day and afternoon shifts, and some weekends, or as required based upon business needs. - Able to work within a team or independently with mínimal supervision. - Work closely with Lab Technicians and Corn Room Coordinators to learn and practice varied tasks. - Ensure corn, ethanol and co-products adhere to quality standards and health and safety practices. - Calibrate equipment to ensure testing and sampling requirements meet QA protocol. - Assist with Corn Receiving by analyzing testing from each load. - Practice and take samples throughout process for Certificate of Analysis adherence. - Ensure adherence to our Quality Assurance Program. - Document analysis then forward to Lab Technician for approval. - Work in compliance with all Company policies, procedures, and Legislation. - Report all workplace incidents to the Quality Manager or designate. - Act as a representative of the company when communicating with customers, contractors, and vendors. - Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills and willingness to work as a group toward solutions. - Demonstrate ability to effectively understand, listen, verbalize, and write information. - Perform other duties as delegated. **Health & Safety Aspects** Use of the following clothing and personal protective equipment is required: - 100% Cotton Clothing or FR rated Clothing - Long Sleeve Shirt - IGPC approved safety work boot (CSA approved, steel toed, minimum 6” in height etc.) - Hard hat (except in clearly defined office areas) - Safety Glasses - Hearing protection (where required) - High visibility clothing (uniform/vest/coat) - Respiratory protection (where required) - Other PPE as required **Mental and Physical Effort** - The position requires multi tasking while ensuring our quality product and efficient operation of the Plant. - At times can be moderately physically demanding. Physical Requirements include walking, standing, and sitting throughout the day. Moderate lifting is required throughout the daily and weekly tasks (>40 lbs.) and assistance is available if required. **Working Conditions** - Office work and outdoor activities in areas with automated, noisy and rotating machinery. - From time to time will be exposed to long work hours and potential non-standard shifts. - Will work both in an office and laboratory setting and throughout the facility as required.
