Our company is currently recruiting a **Maintenance Technician **for a brand-new position in their Sherwood Park food-manufacturing facility
**Company Overview**
For over thirty -five years, we have beenproducing gourmet foods that are sold across North America. We concentrate heavily on food safety & quality and are certified under SQF, GFSI, CFIA and follow HACCP Principles throughout our facility. We are creating a **brand-new position** and are in need of a dynamic, team-focused **Maintenance Technician**. **Position Overview**
Reporting to the Plant Manager, and in collaboration with our QA Manager & senior management, the **Maintenance Technician** is responsible for maintaining all equipment at the facility. With an eye to the bottom line, efficiencies, and health and safety, this is role with potential for great growth: you will be instrumental in developing and shaping a brand-new maintenance program.
**Key Duties (but not limited to)**:
- Ensure optimal functioning of equipment, including planning and performing preventative maintenance and repairs
- Work in partnership with quality control to ensure quality, safety procedures and policies to include HACCP, SSOP’s, GMP’s, CCP’s
- Diagnose & repair issues on machines
- Assess current processes and advise on any improvements that could be made
- Continually monitor equipment and facility to always be maintained in an excellent manner.
- Continue to build and improve our TPM program to reduce downtime and improve overall maintenance costs.
- Oversee and direct plant projects that involve our own employees or outside contractors
- Assist with the implementation of capital projects.
- Support upgrades, replacements, overhauls and installation projects.
- Must be knowledgeable and able to follow Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements
- Perform regular facility inspections to ensure fire extinguishers, exits emergency lighting and other safety features meet and/or exceed regulatory requirements
- Oversee and ensure equipment on site is repaired and maintained, as needed
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- High School Diploma; Post-secondary Education Mechanical Diploma or equivalent
- Five to seven years relevant experience
- Experience in food processing an asset
- Excellent operational knowledge and comprehension of equipment troubleshooting/ repair/maintenance
- Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate to develop team members and processes
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize, efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and understanding HACCP, SSOP’s, GMP’s, CCP’s
- Strong oral and written skills
- Competence in PLC for troubleshooting and programming changes an asset.
- Sound knowledge of OHSA.
- Proven track record of compliance and continuous improvement in improving safety in the workplace.
- Electrical and mechanical experience
- Knowledge of PLC Systems, air compressors, conveyors, AC/DC motors, HVAC systems and servo motors
- Skilled in using basic hand tools, power tools and measuring tools
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Computer and documentation skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Overtime, weekend, evening and holiday work, as occasionally required
- Must be physically fit and able to lift, as required
- Positive attitude, team spirit, and willing to learn and grow
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: From $19.00 per hour
