Chemical Plant Operator

Operates processing machines; makes machine adjustments as necessary to ensure optimum speed and quality of tote filling operations. Weighs out ingredients as listed using scales and mixes ingredients, using appropriate mixing methods, carefully and thoroughly.

**Salary Range**:
Starting Salary is $22-25 per hour

**Responsibilities**:

- Reads batch specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Sets machine adjustments as required for each job.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Lifts and places raw materials into appropriate tote or mixers via automatic or manual lifting. Properly labels bulk containers, mixes etc.
- Cleans area during and end of each batch. This includes cleaning and care of machine in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, cleaning the general area, floor, machine surfaces, etc., where the encapsulator and blending is being performed.
- Performs operator-scheduled maintenance checklist.
- Arranges boxes and other supporting supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
- Assists set up person in obtaining raw materials in a timely manner.
- Complies with safety requirements.
- Previous machine operation experience and basic mechanical aptitude are required.
- Ability to keep the workplace clean and orderly; good personal hygiene practices are required.
- Ability to maintain high-quality standards and fast-paced production, and to successfully troubleshoot a problem with mínimal supervision once training is completed.
- Ability to cooperate and communicate with others
- Computer literacy
- Exceptional problem-solving, verbal and written communication, presentation, and project management skills.
- Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma or GED, consideration given to those with further education and or skills such as trades or power engineering experience.
- Criminal Background Check will be required

**Preferred**:

- Must always place safety first.
- Forklift Training/Experience preferred.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision, is highly motivated, energetic, and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. (2+ years)
- Experience working with or making epoxy is an asset.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.

**Work Environment**:

- Ability to spend long periods of time walking and standing.
- Push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to move containers with proper material handling equipment.
- Able to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
- Must have the ability to perform basic math functions.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, and computer knowledge.
