This top-level executive leads the growth and development of Circle Of Hope Foundation, ensuring it is capable of delivering on its long-term vision. Specifically, the CEO ensures operations, fundraising, marketing, human resource, technology, and programmatic strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization. Associated responsibilities include carrying out policies and procedures, managing overall operations, including personnel supervision and administration, hands-on daily financial management, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, building the annual budget and coordinating the annual audit. The CEO plays a valuable role in Board training and development, in executing the goals of the Foundation as set forth in the strategic plan, and in carrying out its mission.

**REPORTS TO**

The CEO reports directly to, and works collaboratively with the Board of Directors.

**RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

**Financial Control & Investments**

1 Enforce financial policies and guidelines to ensure the Foundation’s assets are protected, utilized effectively, internal controls are adequate, and investment returns optimized in compliance with COH Investment Policy;
2 Position the Foundation to positively weather economic fluctuations and turmoil by continuing to build operating reserves by proactively engaging current and future investment managers;
3 Ensure that the Foundation is in compliance with all federal and state regulations and has sufficient internal controls to operate in accordance with new or revised regulations;
4 Oversee the Foundation’s annual budgeting process and monthly financial tracking. Produce monthly financial reports for the Foundation’s Board of Directors;
5 Oversee the annual audit, including preparation of schedules, compliance, and response to management letter;
6 Ensure that the flow of funds permits COH to make continuous progress towards the achievement of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly to reflect present needs and future potential.

**Leadership**

1 Provide vision and leadership to the Board and staff, ensuring that the organizational values of collaboration, cooperation and consensus are upheld personally and fostered within the organizational culture;
2 Work together with the Board and staff to implement the strategic plan; provide regular evaluations of progress toward those goals;
3 Work closely with the Chair of the Board to ensure that communication is dynamic and valuable and that the staff and Board work in sync to achieve organizational priorities;
4 Work closely with the Board to ensure the development of strong Board governance; establish clear lines of communication and organizational transparency; provide well-defined opportunities for committee and staff engagement; assist the Board in the recruitment, selection and evaluation of Board members; and actively inform and engage the Board in issues of importance to the operations and strategy of the organization; Represent the Foundation by effectively communicating the organization’s mission, vision and program priorities to staff, Board members, donors, fund holders, non-profit partners and the public at large;
5 Create and maintain strong relationships with non-profit organizations and community leaders throughout the region in order to understand and articulate evolving needs in the region;
6 Be a respected leader representing the Foundation in local, regional and national philanthropic circles, and bringing to the region the best ideas and practices for building effective responses to community needs;
7 Elevate the level of leadership, influence and recognition of the Foundation in the county; build a reputation for being an indispensable part of the community’s leadership;
8 Engage the Board in discussions of the tactical, operating, and financial plans that reinforce the Foundation’s business development and strategic ambitions; identify any issues and provide guidance and recommendations to the Board of Directors to set and accomplish strategic goals.

**Asset Development & Fundraising**

1 Be the primary external face of the Foundation; effectively represent the organization and the value of community philanthropy to the public at large and specifically with the Professional Advisor community (e.g., attorneys, CPAs, financial planners) and donors;
2 Encourage and facilitate philanthropy among a broad base of participants; strive for inclusiveness and collaborative efforts to solve larger community needs;
3 Ensure that the Board is supported in its community engagement efforts; facilitate and train the Board in advocacy for community philanthropy and in operational fundraising;
4 Actively work to raise the visibility of the Foundation throughout the county, the broader region and anywhere people who care about the county reside;
5 Grow the Foundation’s assets and operational endowment to support the organization’s long
