Drywall Carrier/yard Associate

As such, Cobourg Home Hardware Building Centre is currently seeking a Full-time Drywall Carrier/Yard Associate.

In this role, associates will be responsible for picking customer delivery orders in an accurate and timely fashion, along with providing on-site support to clients, through carry-in activities. This requires the handling, sorting, stacking, and coordination of drywall orders, working closely on-site with commercial clients to deliver best-in-class service support. We are seeking individuals with a can-do attitude that will search for ways to go above-and-beyond customer expectations.

When not conducting carry-in activities, our Yard personnel greet and serve customers in the store, leveraging knowledge of inventory, prices, returns and exchange policies. Using various forms of equipment, including forklifts, they maintain shoppability and order in the Yard through the receiving, stocking, restocking, and maintenance of product.

**DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work with delivery drivers, and clients, to navigate jobsite complexity and find optimal solutions for carrying-in and staging drywall orders
- Accurately pick and tag merchandise for outbound deliveries and store-to-store transfers
- Actively seek out and offer a friendly greeting throughout the Lumber Yard and Retail Store
- Assist all customers to the best of your ability and always seek help when needed
- Load and unload materials and building supplies
- Take all necessary safety precautions when handling freight, tools, and equipment
- Store material in the appropriate locations throughout the Lumber Yard
- Identify and assist customers with advice, information, and/or help in gathering and loading orders
- Keep the Yard clean and the inventory neat and orderly
- Be familiar with the locations(s) of all inventory and equipment
- Be familiar with the safe operation and maintenance of equipment, including forklift, lumber cart, pallet jack, banding machine, etc.
- Be aware of theft and take action, in line with company policy, to report or discourage it
- Restock lumber bins, sheds and other areas when they are depleted and as instructed
- Receive incoming merchandise
- Check incoming merchandise against orders or invoices, identify damaged goods, shortages, and back-orders
- Report any shortages, damaged goods, and back-orders to your Supervisor
- Must come to work on time and be ready to work when your shift begins
- Must arrive to work with proper Home Hardware apparel including safety boots and high-visibility clothing/shirt
- Work on any special projects/additional duties assigned by your Supervisor/Management, after determining their priority in relation to your other duties
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management to have the situation corrected

**QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED**
- 1+ years of prior retail or industry related experience is beneficial
- A valid class G license with a clean driving record is considered an asset
- Possess a high regard for safety in the workplace
- Being physically fit is an asset as this is a labour intensive role
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted
- Able to lift at least 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Excellent communication skills
- A ‘can-do’ attitude with a desire and willingness to learn is an asset
- Willingness to continually develop professional skills and ability to grow skills and advance within company
- Ability to work cooperatively in team atmosphere and in a variety of environments/weather conditions

**Salary**: $17.00-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 42.5 per week
