**Overview**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide **in-person and online** one-on-one or small group English tutoring sessions.
- Teach English grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, essay writing, and oral communication.
- Assist students with assignments, projects, and exam preparation.
- Adapt lessons to meet the unique needs of each learner.
- Track student progress and provide feedback to both students and parents.
- Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment that fosters confidence.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- **Minimum of 4 years of tutoring or teaching experience in English.**:

- Strong command of English grammar, composition, and literature.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with academic assessments (essays, standardized tests, presentations) is an asset.
- Additional language skills (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, French, Japanese) are considered an asset.
- Passion for education and student success.
- Comfortable with both **in-person and online instruction**.

**Location & Technology Requirements**
- Must be able to teach **in-person in Scarborough**.
- Ability to tutor in **Pickering or other nearby cities** is considered a strong asset.
- Must have a reliable internet connection and be comfortable using online tutoring platforms.
- **Having a device such as an iPad or tablet is considered an asset** for online and interactive lessons.

**Additional Requirement**
- A **police record check (including vulnerable sector screening)** must be successfully completed prior to the start of the contract.

**Contract Details**
- **Employment Type**: Independent Contractor
- **Hours**: Flexible — typically 1-10 hours per week, depending on student enrollment
- **Scheduling**: Tutors set their own availability and have full control of their schedule
- **Compensation**: $20-25 per hour, based on experience

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual, Freelance

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 10 per week
