CLSC Youth and Family - Kuujjuaq
STATUS: Temporary full time (35hrs/week)
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Head of Program Youth and Family
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible
MANDATE:
The Human Relations Officer plans, conducts, analyzes and evaluates activities mainly with child, youth and their families (pregnant women, SIPPE (0-5) and school-age clientele) who are facing different psychosocial issues. Performs psychosocial interventions with an interdisciplinary philosophy and collaborates at different levels in the programming of activities in the service to which he/she is assigned and as well as evaluating the quality of these activities. Participates in organizing promotion and prevention activities.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
Counselling for pregnant women, young families and young people in school environments facing different psychosocial issues;
Crisis intervention with clientele;
Clinical work in an individual, family and group context;
Short-term and medium-term case follow-ups;
Organize promotion-prevention activities in the SIPPE-FASD and at school ;
Assess and refer clients to appropriate outside resources where indicated;
Participate in activities related to social pediatrics;
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case discussions and various committees as required;
Ability to work and support Inuit social workers within the team;
Assess and refer clients to appropriate outside resources where indicated;
Perform all other related duties requested by his/her immediate superior
If needed, replace psychosocial services in different communities.
**Qualifications**
Must have a university degree in the humanities or social sciences such as social work, criminology or psychology.
Possess at least 2 years of related clinical experience with designated clientele within CLSC;
Knowledge of child development, SIPPE program, social pediatric, FASD (fetal alcohol syndrome, social pediatrics and youth mental health would be an asset ;
Work experience in a remote area would be an asset;
Fluent in English and French (spoken & written), knowledge of Inuktitut would be an asset;
Capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team ;
Capacity to establish a therapeutic relationship with clients;
Organized, resourceful, and autonomous;
Valid driver’s licence;
Available to travel to communities on the Ungava Coast.
**Conditions and benefits**
SALARY: Min: $947.80 Max: $1679.30 per week
HIGH COST OF LIVING: $74.19 per week
ISOLATION PREMIUM: $203.66 per week
RETENTION PREMIUM: $ 114.99 per week
Any person recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometres from the locality in which she is called upon to perform her duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per status. Shared lodging or transit if necessary.
