Harbourfront Theatre is seeking a dynamic, creative, and strategic **Marketing & Community Outreach Coordinator** to lead the promotion, audience development, and community engagement efforts for one of Atlantic Canada’s most vibrant performing arts venues.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this role works closely with the senior management team to support Harbourfront Theatre’s mission, values, and strategic goals. You will be both a planner and a doer — helping shape strategy while being the boots-on-the-ground executing campaigns, partnerships, and events.

**About the Role**

The Marketing & Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive marketing, communications, and outreach strategy that raises Harbourfront Theatre’s profile, grows audiences, strengthens community relationships, and supports revenue generation through ticket sales, sponsorship, rentals, and fundraising initiatives.

**Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing, Communications & Promotion**
- Develop and implement strategic and tactical marketing plans for productions, programming, services, and rentals
- Promote the public image of Harbourfront Theatre across digital, print, broadcast, and community channels
- Develop and manage a successful social media strategy
- Write and distribute news releases, articles, calendar listings, PSAs, and promotional copy
- Serve as the primary media contact and cultivate strong relationships with print, radio, and television outlets
- Pitch story ideas and coordinate interviews, reviews, and media coverage
- Plan and manage opening nights, promotional events, and media conferences
- Coordinate reviewers, including comp tickets and press materials
- Arrange design, scheduling, and placement of print, radio, and television advertising
- Lead the development of the annual season brochure from concept through design, ad sales, printing, and distribution
- Promote individual shows and series programming
- Maintain and update the Harbourfront Theatre website
- Create and distribute regular e-newsletters and maintain marketing databases

**Audience Development & Community Outreach**
- Conduct market research to identify target audiences and their needs
- Develop and implement audience development and engagement strategies to build loyalty and attract new audiences
- Ensure Harbourfront Theatre is accessible and welcoming to diverse communities
- Establish and maintain strong relationships within the arts community
- Develop and nurture partnerships with schools, community groups, and organizations
- Represent Harbourfront Theatre at industry events, festivals, and community gatherings

**Sponsorship, Fundraising & Revenue Generation**
- Identify potential sponsors and donors through networking and outreach
- Support sponsor engagement and benefit fulfillment
- Assist with the development of sponsorship and solicitation packages
- Work with the fundraising committee to support fundraising goals
- Support the development and promotion of corporate theatre rentals

**Analysis & Reporting**
- Track and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns
- Prepare performance and measurement reports to inform strategy and decision-making
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, audience behaviors, and best practices

**Skills, Attributes & Experience**
- Strong analytical, strategic, creative, and critical thinking skills
- Proven ability to develop and implement marketing strategies using the full marketing mix
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines

- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to build lasting relationships
- Professional, positive attitude toward the arts and not-for-profit sector
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to turn strategy into action
- Experience working with designers, media outlets, and agencies, including briefing and providing feedback

**Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Haves)**
- 1+ year of experience in a marketing, communications, or related role
- Experience working in theatre, live performance, arts, or cultural organizations
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field is an asset
