**Purpose of Position**:
The People and Culture Generalist will provide knowledge and support including but not limited to employee relations, project management, training and development, talent and performance management, policies and procedures development, employee engagement, and health and safety.
**Responsibilities**:
- Act as a pivotal point of contact for employees and provide support to resolve and direct any issues that may arise, ensuring compliance with Covenant House Toronto’s policies, Employment Standards and other regulatory employment and human rights requirements.
- Conducts research and provides recommendations to support HR programs, initiatives and policy design or enhancements.
- Maintains an awareness of emerging trends and best practices in People and Culture and liaisons with People and Culture peers to ensure policies and procedures stay current and market competitive.
- Partners in the execution and management of a variety of programs in the areas of Talent/Performance Management, Training and Development, Organization Effectiveness and Design etc.
- Prepares contracts, letters, announcements and maintain employee files to ensure data accuracy in various systems.
- Assists in developing, reviewing, and maintaining Human Resources Policies and Procedures and support staff with the standard interpretation of current practices.
- Champions change by partnering with management and other internal departments to develop timely and appropriate communication and action plans.
- Provide employee relations support to staff
- Participate in various health and safety activities, including the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee, to ensure a high awareness of employee safety.
- Leads and/or participates in key projects that support business goals and objectives.

**Qualifications**:
- Graduate of a relevant postsecondary or postgraduate program with a focus on HR Management
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in Human Resources preferably in a not-for-profit environment preferred
- CHRP or working towards it an asset
- Attention to detail for grammar, format and numeracy
- Experience working with HRIS, ATS, LMS, Microsoft Suite of Products
- Knowledge of labour laws, ESA, Human Rights Code, etc.
- Eager to learn and take initiative and ability to influence
- Demonstrated ability to learn and use technology in the workplace to automate processes
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, tact and professionalism
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments
- Excellent planning, organization, and prioritizing skills
- Positive, friendly, and helpful approach to work
