**Days/Hours of Work**:Thursday and Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (15 Hours per week)

**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Manager of SHOAL Centre, the Adult Day Program Leader coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a safe, engaging, and effective Adult Day Program (ADP) that promotes socialization, wellness, and meaningful activities for older adults with physical or cognitive impairments. This role also provides valuable respite opportunities for caregivers. The Leader Coordinator will design, deliver, and evaluate the program; oversee volunteer involvement; build community connections; and ensure meals, snacks, and activities meet both health standards and client needs.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Program Development & Delivery**
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver therapeutic recreation activities, including:
- Social activities and group interactions
- Gentle group exercise and wellness programming
- Mental stimulation activities such as games, puzzles, and discussion groups
- Arts, crafts, and music-based programming
- Educational activities for participants and caregivers
- Ensure programming is trauma-informed, dementia-friendly, accessible, culturally appropriate, and inclusive.
- Incorporate caregiver and participant feedback into program design.
- Prepare and serve healthy snacks and lunches in accordance with FoodSafe standards
**Program Administration**
- Maintain program records, attendance, and participant profiles
- Complete reminder phone calls to participants and/or caregivers
- Provide feedback and updates to caregivers on participants’ progress and engagement
- Manage and monitor program budget and resources
- Conduct program evaluation to measure impact and success
- Support the creating of quarterly reports to funders and Beacon Board
**Volunteer & Community Involvement**
- Recruit, orient, train, and support program volunteers
- Provide ongoing recognition for volunteer contributions
- Develop community partnerships to enrich program offerings (e.g., guest speakers, intergenerational activities, local organizations)
**Health, Safety & Compliance**
- Ensure safe and secure program environments, following organizational policies and health and safety regulations
- Administer First Aid and respond to emergencies as required
- Adhere to confidentiality, privacy, and ethical standards of care
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:
- Diploma or degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Education, Recreation, or Dementia Studies (required)
- 3-5 years’ experience in adult day programs, therapeutic recreation, or working with older adults
- Experience coordinating and supporting volunteers
- Current First Aid certification
- FoodSafe Level 1 certification
**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
- Strong program planning, implementation, and evaluation skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with participants, families, and caregivers
- Skilled in the use of MS365(Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.) record-keeping systems
- Creative, flexible, and adaptable in responding to client needs
