This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

In accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff Agreement, this position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $59,822 to $74,785. This position has an initial appointment of 2 years.

**Working for the Health Technology & Policy Unit in the School of Public Health**

The Health Technology & Policy Unit undertakes research intended to support fair, informed decision-making on the introduction and use of health technologies and programs in the publicly-funded system. It also conducts health technology assessment (HTA) and health evidence reviews (HER) for Alberta Health. It uses research methods from the social and applied sciences, including clinical epidemiology, health economics, decision modelling, biostatistics, and qualitative methods to determine the clinical, ethical, social, and overall health system impacts of health technologies.

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Director, HTPU, this position will be responsible for conducting systematic and scoping reviews of peer-reviewed publications and other sources of information, including jurisdictional scans, and synthesizing findings in policy-relevant form. (S)he will also conduct statistical analyses of large administrative data sets. Opportunities will exist to liaise with various stakeholder communities (clinical, government, research, etc.) during the conduct of HTAs and HERs. The incumbent will contribute to other projects of the Unit and represent it at meetings and other fora, and contribute to writing manuscripts and policy briefs.

**Duties**
- Reviews of topics dealing with health technologies and programs
- Biostatistical data analysis, using STATA
- Qualitative data collection and analysis (Interviews of stakeholder groups; Conduct of focus groups)
- Conduct of jurisdictional scans on identified topics
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Preparation of scientific manuscripts and policy briefs
- Presentations to expert advisory committees

**Minimum Qualifications**
- A master’s degree in a health policy-relevant discipline
- Familiarity with health service research methods
- Knowledge of public policy development

**Preferred Qualifications**
- 3 years of health system experience
- Publication record in health services research
- Demonstrated writing skills for scientific and lay audiences
